How did this runaway start?  Did this start when you turned the game on?  Or did it start when you cashed out?  Does it count any coins coming out?

It started about a year ago. I finally pulled out the hopper and just put a bucket in there to catch the coins. As credits built up i would just play those. My little grandaughter was playing it and hit the "cash out" button... since then i have gotten a code 3100 and 3200 at various times, but every time i put the hopper back in it just starts running right away.

When you put the hopper back in (with ample coins in it) does it spit the coins out or does it just keep running and rotating the coins around in the hopper?  You could have a bad coin out opto/switch or a damaged knife that won't direct the coins out.

You may want to post a photo or two of your hopper.

It spits out all of the coins. My picture files are too big. Not sure how to make them smaller.

That would point me in the direction of the coin out opto/switch.

Not sure what area you need to see. And every picture I take is too large. Obviously the hopper isn't my only issue! Lol

While it is spitting out Coins, are they registering on the Winner Paid Meter?

If not, I would agree with it being the Optics.

Looking at the Hopper as it sits inside of the machine, to the lefthand side just below the upper Handle is where your Optics lie.

If you look carefully you will be able to determine the Coin Path.

As they ride up the Wheel they will be forced out via the Knife and travel through a narrow opening at the top and down a stainless steel chute/valley that directs the Coins through the cutout in the Inner Door Panel and out through an opening in the bottom of the Main Door.

This pathway will be facing directly at you with the Hopper installed.

The Coin Out Optics are shaped like a squared off U and will have wires coming from them that lead down to where the Motor is located. The unit is held in by a screw, or 2.

You can remove this and check it for dirt, dust or grime. I receive a lot of games that are just pure nasty inside from smoking and spilled drinks.

I hope my description was good enough, as I'm doing it from memory while sitting at work.

Also, check to make sure the Optic wires weren't accidentally pulled out of the connector on the Hopper.

Keep us posted.

It does count the coins as they are coming out. I will clean it up and see what happens. Thanks for all input.

How many credits were on the machine when your grand daughter hit the cash out button?

If the pay out is greater than the coin counter it just needs to pay out the win.
When you get it straightened out you will want to disable that button. It's really easy thanks to the guys here.
This is the post with the directions to easily disconnect the pay out button on the Splus

Email the picture to yourself.  Most mail applications usually give an option to reduce the file size before sending.

If its counting the coins as its paying out it sounds like you just need to keep refilling the hopper and let the machine finish paying out.

I was having issues with the hopper continuously running. That was why I had taken it out and just put a little bucket in the machine to catch the coins.

If the machine is actually counting the coins as they pay out there is a good chance there is nothing wrong with the machine. For instance, if there were say 900 credits on the machine when your grand daughter pushed the cash out button the machine will need to pay out all 900 credits. The hopper will continue to try to pay out credits until it reaches the the cashed out amount. If you suspect the it has surpassed the cashed out amount then there is a different problem. So the first step is to determine if the machine is in a cash out situation or not. You may need to feed a bunch of coins into the machine, perhaps as many as 1000. The default limit on credits is usually 1000, unless someone has programmed it differently. After that 3100 or 3200 codes are often hopper brake problems, but don't get ahead of yourself, we can deal with that once we understand if the machine is acting properly.

Hopper issue update: I have fed enough quarters through that the payout of 9999 has been surpassed and it starts over. Hopper is still running as soon as i turn on the machine.
