S2000 Bill Acceptor won't Suck in Bills
« on: September 11, 2022, 07:31:27 PM »
Just got this machine off craiglsit in unknown condition. All it needed was the battery replaced and now it's ready to play, but the bill validator won't suck the money in, so I can't put any credits on the machine.

What do I do?

I have the same machine with a working validator.

also that LED board by the bill acceptor does not light up. (see pic) It may be broken because I snapped a tranistor thing off it by accident and then soldered it back on.

The Bill Acceptor power cycles when you turn the machine on but then no lights or anything and won't try and take bills.

Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: I forgot to disclose that I did not actually replace the battery yet,m because it was a 2354, which I had to order. Turns out the bill collectors won't work until you clear your RAM Error (caused by low battey) My bad for not disclosing that right away. Battery arriving tomarrow.

You can get a replacement light board from Spin inc.

Are there any error codes ?  The light might not be coming on because the bill validator is not working. Look in the menu and be sure the bill acceptor is enabled.  (Options 3.3.1)

Thanks guys! I also got an email from a forum member suggesting i:

"Try to auto configure the validator by pressing the button in front of the cpu scroll over to i/o and auto configure the validator"

so I will try that as soon as I can get some free time. I get to play with slots machines all weekend, but then I have to work from home Mon - Fri. I hate working!

Thanks again guys! I'll update this thread as soon as I try those things.

I did this: Try to auto configure the validator by pressing the button in front of the cpu scroll over to i/o and auto configure the validator

the choice was "Auto Configure NETPEX Devices"    I picked that and scrolled to "Bill Validator" pressed that and it's said "Auto Configuration of NEPLEX Devices in progress." then it said Bill Validator: Installed"

Still wont suck in bills, andthough it cycles a few times on start up.

I tried a working bill validator from another S2000 identical machine. It does the same thing, cycles, syays "Installed" when I run the test, but won't suck in bills.

What next?

I could put the validator from the new machine in my working machine and see if it works in there. I'll try that tomarrow.

more info. Pic 1: This wire is hanging around and also Pic 2,3: this other cord with the white clip is not plugged in. It looks like it's coming out of the back of that area. Pic 4: this is behind the bill acceptor box area (nothing plugged into it).  Pic 5: Random unplugged wires in the back right corner

When I ran a Bill Validator Test it says "Test Bill =" "Bill Validator Door Closed"

Does that just mean my cash box door is shut?

For whats its worth I had the same issue but on an S+ machine, turns out the bill validator was actually enabled, but the monitory value was not set, mine was set to zero. I had to use a key chip to change that, but once I set it to 25 cents the validator lit up and accepted bills.

Maybe that will help you? something to check anyway

This guy may have solved it. I get my battery tomarrow. Will update.

Curtis said: The Bill Validator won't enable fully until the Low Main Battery message is cleared.

Indeed. I replaced the CR2354 battery and it cleared the RAM Error, and the machine started right upand the bill collector worked perfect.

Is a CR2354 battery the standard for all S2000s?
Mine has a CR2032 on the MPU board... Is that the same battery?

No, they are different sizes. CR2354 is for deluxe 1270 board.  2032 for all other S2000 boards.

Thank you sixcardmark.  I have a 50x MB, so that makes sense.
