Post by: Joopers7 on March 04, 2021, 05:44:56 PM
So I'm looking to buy my 1st slot machine. Found one on FB Market for $300, only backlights come on. No tension on reels...this is a Wild Cherry slot....worth it to buy and try to fix or move on??

S+ power connectors are notorious for causing this problem.  Doesn't mean that's what it is, but a good probability.  If it's complete, and the battery hasn't leaked and destroyed the MPU board(not common, but happens) then it's probably worth it.  You can always try to negociate a lower price too.  A new replacement power cable will run ya $25 - $30 shipped.

This would cause No LEDs as well??

It would cause the LCD to not work. I don't know of any LEDs in a S plus.

Yes, if it's the power supply connector the machine is dead except for the fluorescent lights.

Okay so I'm in my machine, I noticed a couple of disconnected wires, but no where for them to go. I replaced the main power cable but I'm a little confused as to where I would find the "main connector" is this inside the power supply?? Is there a video or another topic that could shed some light on this for me?? Thanks for your patience.

The power connector that is known for getting burnt is circled in the attached photo.  It's on the back side, the connector off and turn it around to see if it's burnt.  If so, you can usually get it working by reseating it a couple of times, but it will eventually go out again.

Well so much for the really simple fix then.  Pull the mpu board out and look it over for any visible signs of damage.   Burnt components, leaking battery, etc.  While you're at it measure the battery voltage.  It comes out by pulling straight up on the black knob on the back wall.  Also pull and check the fuses.

I'm not sure what those wires went to either.  Possibly that small interface board nearby?  I'm not sure what that's for, it's not part of a stock S+ machine.  Possibly part of a player tracking system.

Okay so I replaced all the fuses....progress!! Sort of. Now I have the red LCD display on displaying 61 under Winnet paid and a green and white flashing light on top....however the reels haven't reset yet and no sound or blue lid display on top. Board looks super great so signs of burn or corrosion. Could it be a battery at this point?

That's great :applause: .  No, after you get the 61-1 close and latch the main door, then turn the jackpot reset key once.  That should do it.

Okay!! We are working pretty good now, 3 things, upper display isn't working, buzzing sound coming from the reel area and how do I coin for tokens, my change in (inside) does not look like the ones I've seen on some of the videos where you can just insert a coin or token. Thanks for all your help!! Got me a good machine and was only a fuse!

That's great, congratulations :applause: .  I looked at the facebook ad for your machine again and I think the upper display you're referring to is the player tracking display.  Some of those you can set up to scroll a message, but other than that they're not functional.  They connect to a "backend server" in the casino which you don't have,  That's what some of the abandoned wires are for in your cabinet too.

The buzzing sound is probably from the coin diverter solenoid.  It diverts coins to fall into the slot stand when the hopper is full.  Most people simply disconnect them.  There's a two wire plug that goes to the solenoid.  Disconnect it and no more buzzing.

If you want to change from coin to token, or token to coin just remove the sample coin from the coin comparitor and put in the new one.   That's assuming quarter sized tokens.

So here is what my coin comparator looks like. No coin inside. Not sure if there is a place for one. This looks different than the others I've seen. Do I need to purchase a different one? The quarters work sorta, I have to drop about 5 or so before I get a credit. Some fall right through. Some take but no credit.

It looks like it's in backwards. Pull it out and shoot a photo of the other side.

Okay I took my coin comparator off and the spring flew out, luckily I found it but now can't figure out how it goes back on, anyone have pics or video ref??

FYI

I think that is a dollar size acceptor.  If I remember correctly, those went in backwards on purpose.  Is there a model # on the acceptor?

That might be why your having trouble getting coins to read.  You optics may not have the right spacer in it.  Is your coin head wider than a quarter?  Or does the quarter just fit?

He stated this is a quarter machine, but maybe has the wrong CC?

AGAIN... please post a PHOTO of the coin comparator.

Yes there was $1 coin in the acceptor....do I need to get a different model. I think this one just died anyways, I got the spring to work but the buzzing sound it made before is gone and now even with the $1 coin back in it wont accept anything.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped me out with my new slot machine....issue #1 was only a fuse, crazy how they all looked fine. Issue #2 was the coin comparator...yes it was in backwards and had to stay that way, once I changed it from the golden dollar that was in there to a quarter and did the fine tuning it took every quarter dropped in. Issue #3 was even though it took every quarter the slot wouldn't give credit, this was a simple $7 fix by swapping out the spacer. Now the slot works super excellent.  I even got the Hopper to work correctly!! Now on to learning all of the goings on with my slot. I will read all info sent to me in an earlier post!! Thanks again to all who helped me!
