Ticket Printer Installation
« on: January 10, 2025, 04:05:59 PM »
Hello,

I have ticket printer and would like to install it into my 3 reel S9000.  I figured the USB will pug directly into the MPU, but I cannot find a socket for the other 2 plugs.  I tried to plug the larger plug into a harness directly behind it and the machine was not happy.  Loud noises.  Thanks for the help.

Depending on the printer (Brand?) and game (IGT S3000)

On the S3000 - The distribution board at the back of the cabinet to the left of the CPU has a sticker-label indicating the connection point for the printer ( this is the power point) Since the multipin from the printer connects to a two pin connection point . . . hopefully you have an appropriate harness. ( Don't get me started about finding / knowing the right one  :talktothehand: )

Which printer are you adding?

I don't see anything like the power distribution for for IGT's.  This board in the last photo, is closest to what would like a power distribution panel. and it has a port that says spare power, but nothing that says printer.

LifeTilt is confusing an IGT S3000 with your Bally S9000...two totally different machines.

You have a Universal GEN2 printer.
I have a couple of questions for you.
We all know you can't always trust the labels but could you type what is written on the two labels I've marked in yellow?

Also, in the hole where I've circled in green, is the header connector white or black?
Why isn't there a harness plugged into it?

Thanks for the reply,

The green circle connector is black.  I disconnected the harness and pulled the unit to get a good look at everything behind it in the cabinet.

The top label : Seiko GEN 2 - FLASH - GRU001208

Side Label - Serial Number 0267200908189034 - PSA-66-ST2RU 220-3XX

Second Side Label : Future Logic 24Vdc@ 2.7A - I.T. E 3TXG - Model GEN2

A quick search in the "Printers - ALL" board of topics pops up a list showing GUR001213 may or may not be the firmware needed for your Bally...it's under Universal too but an S6000.
It doesn't even list the one you have (GRU001208) so I'm not sure

Check out the list I mentioned to you in this topic I've linked below...>>>
https://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=38653.0

You just have to keep digging in the topics utilizing the search box in different boards.
I'm sure someone else had this problem besides you.
I really don't know beans about Bally S9000's.   ???
Hopefully someone that works with them will have some better ideas for you.

Stayouttadabunker: Thank you sir. It took some time to get back on the forum, re-read. . . and I apologize for putting Newbooty on the wrong path. I misread the initial post. I also have a S9000 on the floor.

double-check ..........double-checking that connection point . . .

This S9000 is connected from the GEN2 via RS232 ( The white 14 pin molex, not the attached USB connection on the universal GEN-2) The RS-232 cable-end connects to a bally adapter harness,

[ 200213 00-0 REV B
249743 0930 ]

which connects to a combined connector ( card reader / printer ) located on the board to the left of the cashbox.... down at the lower-left corner of the board, above three caps.

As Stayouttadabunker mentioned...One has to scan through the forums to get info. Even with reference to most of the vendor books... these manufacturers omit just the info that I need at times.

Another thing to check. Using the diagnostic button on the cpu... SETUP - MACHINE SETUP - DEVICE SETUP...VOUCHER PRINTER

Wow thanks so much - I talked to one of my friends that has a few Bally machines.  He took pictures yesterday, and what you came up with,  is exactly what is needed. The adapter cable should work perfectly.  I searched the forums and couldn't find anything that came close to this question.  Thank you both for the information.   The USB was very misleading.   One word of warning to anyone that may read this forum in the future.  The printer wiring harness does fit directly into the hanging cable directly behind the printer.  DON'T DO IT.  The harness goes to the audio amplifier.  The machine does not like it, at all.    It will tell you very loudly.   :fryingpan:.  Thanks again for the info.  The Bally is an interesting machine.  Kind of a cross between and S2000 and a WMS.
