Title: Looking for tips on customizing the top & belly glass
Post by: dgalvin66 on August 17, 2017, 04:15:47 PM

I am thinking that I want to make custom top & belly glass and would like to hear how everyone else has done theirs. Also id a thin sheet of Plexiglas ok for use over the monitor? (Non touch)

I've bought a lot of parts from Rick, nice guy. I had no idea that they did Custom glass.
To be honest I was thinking more on the lines of trying to make it myself but will check with him in about a week when I go over there for a few items.

You will duplicate the reel table from one of your themes.
You can go to any print shop with a Powerpoint of what you want on the glass. They create a Mylar that gets adhered to glass or plexy glass.

Some people have printed their own and sandwiched in between two thin sheets of plexy. You can pick up cheap pelxy from Home depot or lowes and cut it on a table saw. I would use masking tape on the edges that you are cutting to inhibit splintering and take a drywall sponge over the edge to remove any residual burrs.
I would use velum instead of paper - but photo paper is a good medium until you want to do your final. Most people don't have a home printer that can do the larger sized glass.

Getting custom reel strips done to match is more of a challenge.

I am doing Poker machines for now so the reels are not an issue. But anyone that reads this down the road will find that useful.
I will look into the Mylar adhesive and play around with it some after I get my color printer working again. I miss having a large format color laser.
