Title: Reel touch No Disp Error
Post by: Dirtguy on December 01, 2018, 12:55:00 PM

Hi
Just turned on my Bucks Ahoy, Goes through startup fine, gets to top screen - There is a problem with machine Call Attendant -. .When just turned on, VFD says  Display Passes Self Test, then goes blank, then in credits display on right it shows- No Disp. What could be causing this? Any ideas? I switched out all three IO cards, and the VFD screen, did not fix.
                                                                     Thanks  Dan

Dan,
I have seen this before I'm trying to remember what I did to fix it.
Probably the BV is not cycling either.
Try reseating the lower power supply (the one behind the reels) reseat the multi colored ribbon cable going to the motherboard on both ends. Reseat motherboard plugs.
If that doesn't work and assuming no BV cycle when you first turn it on, try turning off removing the MPU and turn on. If the BV cycles then it's probably something to do with the MPU.
Reseat the chips and legacy board(If yours is an enhanced one). Last thing I would try is a clear/key routine.
After that I think your down to the MPU.
Let us know if something different is happening like you are getting a BV cycle.

I switched out the lower power supply, no change. Reseated all the mother board plugs and Chips on the cpu (504), no change. The BV does cycle. Turned on the machine with the CPU out and VFD lites netplex down and stays on. I guess I'll try a clear and if that don't work, another CPU but will have to wait till tomorrow. This is one of the machines that has the multi gm HD. Top box appears to be doing what its supposed to do. Oh yea I checked the voltage on the CPU battery 3.0v. After I do a clear I'll let you know whats happening.

Found the problem, Bad Printer. Found by unplugging the printer and what do you know the No Disp error went away. Not the easiest machine to replace a printer in. Any way - installed another printer and now up & running.

Nice work Dan!
All linked netplex devices, printer, BV, VFD, red LED display,  and I/O cards. Any one bad will lock up the machine.
Was it a gen 2 printer or something different?

Gen 1, don't understand how machine is working fine, turn it off for a while, turn it back on and you have a printer go bad. That's OK, I look at slot machines as brain teasers! :Scratch-Head:
