Just purchased a working 502 board from a vendor & correct matching chips & hard drive from a member here & after installing my MPU board the display just stays on Displays Netplex link is down, plus when I first turn the machine on, the LEDs on the bottom front of the MPU come on for a moment & then turn off. All 3 of my I/O cards are good & my power supply behind the reels is good. What else could I check?
-
2 other things, the bv does cycle when I power up but the 5 reels don't get stiff like they should.
-
I've read before that the green varta battery could cause this same issue. The board that I bought from a vendor has had the varta battery removed, because I don't think it's even needed. Should I try to put a new varta battery on this board to see if it will boot up then?

The Displays Netplex link is down message is steady, not blinking in case that is a clue as well
-
What LEDs are lit on the CPU, just flash on and turn off?
All chips installed properly and in the correct location?
What is displayed on the top box?
-
Installing a Varta battery will not do a thing...you should know this by now?
Try that MPU in another cabinet and see if it's any good.

When I first turn the machine on, the LEDs on the MPU board come on for about a second or 2, then they all go off. I've checked to make sure all the chips are seared properly & with no bent legs.

Top box is bottling up but when it gets to initializing game, it just stops there
-
Top box is waiting for lower mpu.
Using SG000239 and VS009GX0?
-
Yes sir on the 2 SG chips & the version chip
-
I have tried the other 502 board that I just purchased just to be sure & it's doing the same thing

David,
Check that power supply again. You seem adamant that yours is good but that's what usually causes netplex link down with 50X MPU boards.

Will try another one & see
