Hi everyone. I worked for my father in his small game room back in the early 80's and have always loved Arcade games. After 17 1/2 in the Army, I went into business with my father in law repairing and restoring all types of coin op amusement devices in 03 up in Maine until I had to quit due to med reasons. Broke my heart. I bought my 1st pinball at a Military Welfare and Recreation Auction for $200. It was a Williams Police Force that had a shipping crate dropped on it. I was able to repair it and had it in my barracks room. Once I was out I bought out an arcade distributor who was going out of business and got a Bally Medusa, Williams Pheonix, Gottlieb Monte Carlo, Bally BMX, and a Data East Robocop. Unfortunately the Medusa, Pheonix, and Monte CARLO were severely damaged from a storm and were not salvageable. The BMX I sold to a friend, so all I have now is the Police Force and Robocop.

Kings of Steel love it. More everybody else.
-
I have an original Williams Black Night, one of the first pins to have speech in the 1980s era.
Works pretty well, I have replaced the MPU/Driver board with an aftermarket from Rottendog.
Great game

heres some of ours

Busy summer, built a pole barn and in the process of building a 20x40 game room/bar  I picked up a Williams Rollergames the other day for $200 delivered dead. This is my first encounter with a pinball so it tool me longer to open it up than to find and replace the fuse that was blown. :24:
Works pretty good other than a few lights that are out. I ordered LED's for it so that should take care of most of it but I plan on giving it the once over. My grand kids are playing/beating the heck out of it and I'm having a ball. I can see this thing multiplying like the slot machines!!! :drool04:
-
that was a steal at 200 pinball prices are very high and keep going up, we have a 120 pins here check profile for pic's
-
That is a good buy. Slot machines are a lot cheaper to buy than pins. My old KOS is giving me some grief though. The solenoid board is not working so I'll need to get working on that. Love those Pinballs!
-

Anyhow, my Pins are a Disco Fever ( my first one, got it free), a Williams Grand Prix EM, Pin`Bot, and a Last Action Hero.

Great machine! I had a chance to grab one years ago and didn't.. :duh:
My buddy owns one so I stop over there 2-3 times a day to play it.
-
Stern Munsters coming in 3 weeks to go with my Munster slot
-
Bally Scared Stiff. Bought it from the original, (private), owner about 8 years ago. Shipped to me total cost was $3600. Needed a new sticker on the crate and replaced the single bulb with an LED under the boney beast ramp. Tends to melt the plastic, so it's the only place with an LED as I prefer the incandescent look. Both ramps had to come out so it was a big job for me.
Have kept it as original as possible. No mods.
When I opened it up for the first time, it didn't smell like a bar! Very clean game, zero cabinet fade and my wife and I are the only ones to complete it 1 time each. Still trying!
-
I currently have Flash, Judge Dredd, and Wizard of Oz RR. However, the Flash pin is being sold this Saturday and Scared Stiff is on its way from Virginia. Can't wait to get the SS pin as that is one of the best pins I have ever played. So fun!!
-
Finally got another Road Show... I missed this beast after I sold my last one. Bang for Buck pin!
:cool_thumb_up:
-
I have Dungeons and Dragons and Earthshaker.
-
I've always wanted room for a Pinball machine, but my wife says enough space take on the house for the slots. I've always wanted a Bally Xenon machine, first machine I remember playing that had a sampled voice, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.
-
Just arrived.. :cool_thumb_up:
-
What is the back one?
-
What is the back one?
Monster Bash.
-
Here's a few I had on location at a nearby bowling alley. Sold two of them and got the one in the middle back.
-
Good ol EM's. :cool_thumb_up:
I recently sold this.. Minty and actually a fun pin that doesn't pop up often.
-
And 2 other super fun machines.. Mousin is sweet and Simpsons is a top 5 pin, period.
-
Funhouse bought it almost 30 years ago
-
Funhouse bought it almost 30 years ago
Nice! Let me know when you want to sell it. Ha - Make sure you wax the playfield and buy some new balls for it.. Those PF's wear pretty fast unless it has the rarer DiamonPlate.
:cool_thumb_up:
-
You guys have some really nice games! :drool04:
This is still my favorite one! Roger played this one in the movie Tommy.
-
Few more.. Revenge from Mars is ok, not worth the money.. Freddy is unique but not a keeper.. Magic Castle is a blast, bang for buck IF you can find one.
-
And a few more classics.. Posting these is making me really regret selling some of them.. Laser War is a great simple pin, I actually owned 3 at one time and made the best out of the 3... then F'n sold it like a fool to buy some overpriced newer turd.. Damnit..
:duh:
-
BTW the pin hobby is like 10x more expensive than slots.. It's nothing to drop 10-15k on a pin or 2..
I sold 3 of my kidneys so far to get some of these..
*Edit - I will trade slots for any 1980 or newer pin(s) too! Condition is king.. LET ME KNOW WHAT PINS YOU HAVE, we can work out a deal!
:arrowthruhead:
-
Its a diamond plate , i bought extra playfield way back from Williams and put in when mylar was coming up

If you don't want to mess with it I'll take it off your hands for the right price! Ha.

I own a Cue Ball Wizard, Hook, and am working on very slowly building a video pinball to try my hand in that type of machine as well.

Couple more. Baywatch ROCKS, Maverick is a fun shooters pin, Rocky & Bull is ok, Tales from the Crypt is a keeper, Last action hero is bang for buck, Judge Dredd was a bang for buck pin, LW3 is a polished turd.

Baywatch is a great pin and Last Action Hero is not only the best bang for your buck but it might have the one of the best rule sets of the data east machines.
I got TAF, WCS94, TOM, FT, WH20, Mata Hari, EK, Fast Draw.

Nice. I'm hooked on FT right now. Can't stop playing it..
I haven't put much time on WCS, the few I have played had issues and played like sh!t, so after ball 1 I walked..

My current lineup is Wizard of Oz RR, Scared Stiff, Alice Cooper Nightmare Castle, Judge Dredd, and Rick & Morty (eventually). My Rick & Morty is #544 and wont be built until sometime next year with the virus pushing production back. My Judge Dredd is currently with Chris Hutchins awaiting the HEP treatment (cant wait!!). So the other 3 are the only ones in the house for now. I bought WOZ for the wife and it is bolted to the floor. Scared Stiff would be hard to part with and ACNC is an amazing game, it isn't going anywhere either. I'm in a bit of a bind.. I have room for 4 pins tops and own 5. When R&M comes, I have no idea what I am going to do as none of my other 4 are going anywhere. I suppose SS is low man on the totem pole. So if I have to get rid of one, that would probably be it, but more than likely I will me making room for a pin in the garage.
In the pics, Flash has been sold and SS now sits in its place..
-
Nice! HEP is the man! - My first pin was Dredd. No longer a $1400 pin, Ha!
-
Yeah, JD was a grail pin for me as I was a huge JD comic fan in high school back in the 80's. Think I got my JD for $2200 a few years back. It had been previously routed and while it played pretty well, it needs a bit of work. Going to have a TON more into it when all done with HEP. That one will be bolted to the floor as well. Especially since I will have enough into it to buy it 4 times over probably... lol

Yeah, HEP costs a kidney or 3 but the man is a GOD when it comes to pins.. - I would be scared to touch it.. Let alone play it..

Jurassic Park Premium, mofo's.. Best game of the year, Iron Maiden a close 2nd (which I will hunt down some day).
-
How I wish I had the room! I have a Globetrotter. It was the first machine I ever rebuilt. Found it in the trash and have had it over 25 years!

Glad you saved it. Tossing fixable pins should trigger immediate 'no trial' public hangings.
Hopefully you at least burnt the perps house down for doing such a thing? Or delivered an ass whooping, a permanent grin sh!t type of beating?
-
Good move picking up your latest pinball Harvs. We have 3 on route now, great earning pin, gotta get one for at home now. :-) Will trade you a Houdini for yours??? Hahaha
-

BILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY!! YES, bring one home (a premium, not the pro)..
Houdini looks great, but I couldn't hit the right ramp ever over all the times I played it.. They rushed that table... Such a kickass theme too. - Actually, I don't think any of the Youtube vids show anyone hitting that right ramp (at least when I watched them after the pin came out.)
Wish those guys woulda spent another month or so on the layout.. I take pin seriously, like bringing back public hangings as mentioned in the above post.., but with those guys it would be more of waterboarding or chop a few fingers off style. They did a good job for the most part.
-
Houdini is indeed one tough ass game! Ramp shots are rare, and it gets frustrating to play in my opinion. So hoping someone comes along and gives mine a new home. Then come the Jurassic :-)

They still sell but need to price them pretty low considering. I'm sure you made enough loot to not lose on it when you do sell tho.
Or, I can send a few people over late at night and make it disappear, for free, Houdini style!

there are some very impressive replies to this post ... I've got Williams Amber, Gottlieb Queen of Diamonds, Race Time, Palace Guard, Jet Spin, Bally Capt Fantastic, El Toro and Strikes and Spares.
All games were inactive for years, but this covid mess got me to dust them off. plus the recurring questions from the grand kids "when can we play the pin ball machines".
Capt Fantastic and El Toro are up and running. Just started on the Strikes and Spares.
BTW, does anyone have a (pdf) manual for the Strikes and Spare? Had the game in the shed for 20 years. not sure if I ever had the paper work.
There's a post by mvco that lists the game, but I don't know how to email him directly to ask.

I only have one Pinball ...it's a Dracula made by Stern 1979 ...My Aunt had it in her Basement for years and was going to toss it . I asked her for it and , saved it !! I called in a Service guy when it came home and it works fine now. My few complaints are . the digital numbers are shaky and fading a bit now plus , one of the flippers is getting weak (might need Viagra) and , the paint is starting to peel off the glass. I wish there was some way to spray it with something to seal it on. I don't think I'll ever be able to find a NOS replacement Glass because it is not really a game that's in high demand ...but I still enjoy it a lot

Nice! - The weak flipper could be as easy as replacing the coil sleeve, or just taking it apart and check if there's any binding.
They make a repro translight you could use, just sandwich between 2 pieces of thin glass.. Or you could spray 'triple thick' I think its called on the back to stop the cracking.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/STERN-Dracula-Pinball-Machine-Backglass-Replacement-Translite-5-Layer-Hidden-TXT-/302897569610 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/STERN-Dracula-Pinball-Machine-Backglass-Replacement-Translite-5-Layer-Hidden-TXT-/302897569610)
-
Be sure to spray very thin layers of triple thick if you go that route.
-
The triple thick works great, just take your time and put on one thin coat at a time, let dry, and repeat. You will lock in the old paint and prevent future flaking. Ive done it on a few of my older pins I had.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That games audio is top 5 hands down! How much you let it go for? I woulda traded you instantly for that.
-
i have another :)...
not for sale, at the moment....
the one i dumped had some pretty severe gremlins (blasting driver boards, transphaser sensors being erratic - even though ground mods were all done and checked out), and a split cabinet - but was BEAUTIFUL otherwise... i was gonna take the two and make one real nice one (have a kruzman playfield sitting here too, waiting)... as such - i had grown tired of sitting on it.
got a friend that wants to take a poke at it - as such, it left for 2200.... which is a steal, IMO (lost money on it - just wanted it outa here).

anyway - i digress...

i'm still stuck on the slot thing - as i'm just learning what's what (like i got the idea less than 48 hours ago).
not even sure i want one at this juncture, but it is being contemplated actively....
we have parties over here (70'ish ppl) - pre covid... and i like having new surprises for my guest(s)... a slot seemed like an interesting idea....
kinda glad i ran Ethernet all over my gameroom... one of em is FINALLY gonna get used.

My collection isnt as impressive as some on here but each one is special and has its own story.
Williams Firepower- Paid $200 for amachine that would light up but not play. Reseated all the PROMS and cables and it worked fine. Needed a good cleaning and I added a repo backglass. Looks and plays fantastic today.
Gottlieb Incredible Hulk- Paid $25 for it. Would no start at all. Fuses blown. Found several Drivers blown on IO board and the main board had some acid damage. Cleaned up the board and added an off board battery. Works good. Cleaned and touched up the playfield. Backglass is a 10. Game worksand plays great today.
Data East Lethal Weapon 3 - This game was given to me by a friend from work. It was in his basement and he didnt know how to fix it. He knew I could repair it and I did. It needed a couple drivers and triacs on the IOboard and some work under the playfield. It also needed a plastics set. It works and plays excellent.
Gottlieb Big Top EM - Was going to be another free machine but I gave the guy $100. It plays but needs some work. I have had it for a few years but havent started the restoration. It will need cabinet paint touch up and a complete inspection, cleaning and adjustment of everything under the playfield and in the back box. Very unique game. It does not give free games, only extra balls. You can rack up as many as 5 extra balls. It was designed this way because a couple states did not allow free games to be awarded.
MAME Machine. This is my arcade. I got it for free. It is built from an actual Moon Patrol arcade game. The cabinet has been repainted back to original, a two player custom control console added and the screen is a 24" LCD monitor. I made a custom front bezel that says Mame Patrol using the original Moon Patrol graphics. It has over 4000 playable games and gets a lot of use.
My collection is rounded out with a Bally E2000 slot. This has been my problem child as many of the E series slot owners can understand. It plays but is tempermental. I paid $200 for it 20 or so years ago. It is my main project right now. Cosmetically it is great.

The idiots doing my move refused to take the legs off the pinball, They were bringing it up the stairs at a weird angle. Then one of the idiots stumbled - kicked a size 11 hole into the wall at the top of the stars, dropped it and the unit fell back onto the bottom guy who fell back down to the landing - machine in tow and also kicked a hole in the wall - I am surprised that he didn't go through the wall.
The back back glass broke. I was practically in tears as I know backglass is the heart of the machine. The movers started on me saying that they should not have been asked to move it and I should have hired a specialty company. Nothing like taking ownership eh ? If that was the case the guy that came in to give me a quote should have said something, had they followed my advice and removed the legs it also would not have happened.
its a Williams diner that had translight, and while it was not ripped it was pretty badly scratched up.
Insurance covered the damage and I was able to get a repo back glass which is 100x better than translight albeit not the original.
I really like the mirrored finish of the backglass now.
