Title: printer issue
Post by: thatsnotgood on March 15, 2014, 06:25:58 PM
I just purchased a printer for one of my machines a S2000 I want to say it is an ithaca 850 but I am not completely sure.  I installed it enabled it but when I attempt to cash out I get an error saying that the printer is not available if I open the door and close it then try again it will print the ticket and I have to do that any time I cash it out. Also another weird quirk that it has is that if I have the main door of my machine open and I open and close the printer my machine thinks that the main door is closed even though the optical sensors are not lined up. Has anyone else had an issue like this or perhaps a way to fix it?

Thanks,

Have you done the Netplex Auto Configuration in 4 I/O tests?
Bill acceptor door switch bypassed or functional?
Just by chance the optics been bypassed in the machine?

Unplug the printer and see if the M door closed still occurs when it is open.
Make sure your not pinching any door optic wires

I have ran the netplex auto configuration a couple times and that doesn't seem to make any difference  the bill acceptor door switch has been bypassed, oddly enough the door optics are not bypassed on the machine and with the printer unplugged I don't get any message when the printer is opened or closed and I have followed the optic cables through the machine and they do not appear to be pinched shorted or anything like that. This is just very odd to me.

I would either try another printer.
Have the vendor swap it out if they are willing.
If you have to buy another printer get a FutureLogic Gen1 or Gen2
Make sure the replacement is a Netplex version.

I went ahead and switched that printer with one of my other machines and that one works perfectly in my other machine but the one I put in this "problem" machine does the exact thing so I believe that it is an issue with the machine itself.

Okay next step would be to swap the MPU's and see if the problem follows the mpu from the problem machine.
IF it does not, then the issue is in the motherboard or main harness wiring.
Also temporarily disconnect the BV and see if the problem goes away. You will get a an error but it does not have to be connected for the machine to function.

You are going to get a few errors when you swap MPU's.
Hopefully you know about using the J/P key to clear the errors.

I have a TITO board installed so I have the validation settings set for that board to work I saw in another post that the printer errors can be fixed if you disable the validation settings so I tried that and the printer worked perfectly but unfortunately the TITO then doesn't work I did switch it with one from another machine in case the TITO Board was defective but it was the same with both boards. So the issue seems to be in the validation when printing tickets. Any ideas how that can be fixed?

Double check your validations settings to see if they match with the machines that work.
if they the same then the issue might be the communications board and/or the power supply inside the AC distribution unit
The Power supply in the AC dist unit powers the comm board and the inside light.
