Title: Bally Alpha 1/2 Monitor Memory Issues
Post by: JDKMunch on December 19, 2016, 11:14:00 AM
I curious if anyone has a solution to this problem.  I have two Bally factory monitors one 32" and one 26" -

Each retain a "memory" or something similar to "burn in" for previous images.   For example in the picture below, I had lightning jackpots installed.    You can see when I put titanic in the tower from lighting jackpots can be seen.   Now this does go away - it isn't actually burned into the screen.   I would like to know if there is a way to clear this up sooner than waiting a few days for it to disappear on its own.

This happens on my V32 as well and the monitor is factory brand new.

I've been told by more than a few techs that you could lessen the effect by having constantly moving images.  So play a movie on the display or so and it will go away faster.  Having it display "snow" or white noise also makes it go away faster.  The theory says by having the lcd crystal move a lot, it will get "unstuck."  The more you do it, the faster it gets unstuck.  So anything with rapidly moving pixels ought to do it faster, that's why white noise works best.

That's great - I'll give that a try I see many videos of white noise I'll play on it for a while and see if it does the trick.

My 26" Cinevision monitor is easy to get temporary burn in. It annoys the hell out of me.

From this site: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/why-do-images-get-burned-into-lcd-and-plasma-displays-and-how-you-can-fix-it/ (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/why-do-images-get-burned-into-lcd-and-plasma-displays-and-how-you-can-fix-it/)

Another prevention method is to reduce screen contrast as much as you can. Most screens aren’t calibrated correctly (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-online-tools-calibrate-monitor/), often putting too high of a setting for contrast and brightness. Lower contrast means that the lighting across your screen is more even. This helps to keep burning out of your screen, especially for channel logos that sit in the corner while you watch your TV.
