I do not know if anyone else has done it on purpose

Mr. Reno, Jon,
Never came across this situation myself reels stopping from right to left.

Think I would check the position of the latch link part # 27, 37 and 47.
The first reel is set in the second hole from the end on the "timer idler lever" part #25, 34 and 41.
Second reel is set in 3rd hole from the end and the last reel is set in the 4th hole from the end.
Compare your machine.

Quick fix, turn the machine upside down.

Ya the latch links are the problem that actually have been modified in this machine. I just wanted to check if this was a normal thing before swapping them from my parts machine.

When rebuilding & overhaul, folks sometimes forget that sequence of #2 hole, 3, &4. Done it lotsa times.
Also if your kick & trip sequence is misadjusted, you can get the reels to spin backwards, just fyi...

When i got the machine 1 and 2 would not kick at all and 3 would either not kick or spin backwards. The shock  was stuck in place had to use solder reflow station to heat it up enough to get it out. On the latch links one of them is actually 2 pieces of metal brazed together. I have a complete parts reel mech im just going to move all the good parts over from it.
