Post by: RATTLER on July 23, 2017, 05:30:29 AM
What is needs to be done to change from a game king 6.2 044 board to a different game if i buy the game that comes with the mpu & flash board. Is it just pulling the game king board out & putting the new board in

Or get one of these and eliminate the need for a keychip.

There is an eeprom (24LC256) on the back plane that contains set up information.  If you are going to have an MPU with the game board set up for easy change outs you also need to keep an eeprom mated with your boards.  It's simple to change the chip if you have the socketed back plane.

Yes, they should work.  Most of the Back Planes (but not all), have the socketed chip.

Here is what I  used:

Is the backpane board the same as the motherboard and if so is it the U14 socket & if that is it I have 1 board that looks like it is socket & the other is soldered in which i would like to change. I seen the link to buy the eprom to plug in would you know the link for the female holder for the mouser website to change my other board. Also then are these the steps to be able to change games. Pull old game MPU & Flash board out & eprom chip out. Put new eprom chip in & New game MPU & Flash board in with clear chip 28 in & clear it & then put the game boot chip in & program the eprom for that game. And after that to change the game to the old one just use the other eprom chip & the old game MPU & Flash board. I hope I didn't confess you. Thanks Ralph

The back plane is the board that the MPU plugs/slides into.

You are correct, you would need to do a clear and set up the game the first time with the new eeprom and then keep the eeprom matched for each MPU and change the eeprom each time you insert a MPU.
