Post by: Nepa Coin Op on February 21, 2020, 07:54:30 PM
I heard of a board mod to completely eliminate the door circuitry on the 504 boards does anyone know where this info could be found on here or was it the old site? I am not talking aboit optic bypass, I am referring to a mpu mod

Thanks but thats not what I need Jim is the one that told me about it, there is a mod to eliminate all of that garbage and just put a switch on the board , it involves removing a bunch of ics and other things .

I posted a file in the download section that I downloaded from a message here somewhere that I can't find.  It's too large to post, but since you're a contributing member you have access to it.  This is the mod that requires some removal of some IC's.  I tested it one of my bad boards and it does work.

I guess I'm blind, because I don't see it.  Just three .pdfs Jim posted that aren't the same as the one I uploaded.  I do not know who made this document, but thanks to them.

Glad to help.  You're welcome.

you seem pretty familiar with these I have 2 boards here driving me nuts they wont clear 2nd amber is flashing, other boards in this cab are fine these 2 will not clear no matter what i do even with chips from those other boards, no acid damage on them either so obviously its a comm prob , I have changed most all of the buffers and decoders and one is still doing it, when I finally fix one I will fix both, any ideas ??

I've never seen that problem.  I've fixed a few MPU's with reel tilt and constant main battery low issues.  It sounds like you've dug into it pretty deep, but the first things I'd verify are the clearchip, MPU CMOS RAM, and motherboard EEPROM.

I have a few boards with the 2nd amber LED doing a slow flash but it doesn't seem to affect anything.
The games work fine and I can perform clears or change games without any problems.
Just wanted to add this to this discussion.

Went through all of that, chips I had in another working board were used to test this one.
