Title: SAVP Hard Drive Swap from 3.0 to 660
Post by: Ash100 on September 03, 2020, 04:18:54 PM
Quick question for the AVP gurus on here.

I've got a fantastic SAVP machine in my personal collection that has 10 or so games on the HD, Show Boots, Glitter Base, Topper and Emotive Lighting, plus the Glass and Strips for all of my loaded games. It's currently running a 3.0 Brainbox and a Standard Button Deck.

I just got a machine in to build for a customer, but it's running a 660 Brainbox and has the Edgelit Deck, same Top Box features as mine, Topper, etc.

I kinda want that machine now in place of my own. Problem is, I don't have all of the loader files to install my game set onto that 660.

Can it be as simple as swapping out the hard drives from one machine to the next? That would save me buying all of the loaders I needed to put my games into the other machine.

Or are the drives different between the 2 Brainboxes?

That certainly seems easier than taking out the Button Deck and all of the associated hardware and reinstalling it into my machine. And the customer is fine with a Standard Button Panel.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Yes, you can just swap everything, including the PCI card if you don't want to run the setup from scratch.  You will have to clear cabinet memory (ONLY cabinet memory) on the new cabinet, but it should work.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like it will be easier than I initially expected.

At this point I could now go either way, as I'm finding the loader files for the games I have installed on my current setup. I was only missing 3, so I may just load the other machine up and not take anything apart.

Appreciate everyone's help, not everyone commented on this post, but sent PMs.
