Russian men used devices to cheat slot machines at casinos in Missouri, Illinois, feds say
The group used the unspecified devices to predict the behavior of the Aristocrat Mark VI and “obtain winnings from the games that far exceeded what would be expected from fair play,†prosecutors said.

There's more to this story than is being reported. About the only way I can see this happening is with replacing the firmware which implies inside job.
