I have a very general question.. I just saw this machine listed in my area.. Pictures are not very clear, but it seems to be a Reels type Poker Machine? Owner doesn't know much about it, (they never do). Said it try's to start but doesn't currently work..

looks like a arcade poker like the used for prize tokens

Hi!
It's an old Barcrest Reel Poker machine from 80's.

That is my video on youtube...I used to own one...It uses a Barcrest MPU4 processor...It takes Pound currency normally, but I was able to covert it to US coin...I do have some information on it that I found...I sold the machine for $400...It was a interesting piece...I might have photo's somewhere...

I like the UTube video. The seller bought it from a friend. It use to work but when he bought it the machine was was broken. Does it have a curcuit board, maybe with a battery on it? I know I'd never find parts. Seller said he'd take $80, but I was thinking $50-$60.. Max...

No guarantees it's the problem, but yes, the MPU4 has a memory battery and the game won't work if it's dead
-
It's not the dead battery I'm worried about, but the damage one can do..

for the price, it not a bad deal if you like fix'en things...It did not take me long to get mine working...I only paid $50 for it a couple of years ago...I made a few mod's and she was up and running the way I wanted it...
The MPU4 is pretty robust and the machine is fairly simple...

Do you remember what it took to install the credit button and meter? Did you use parts from a different machine? Kind of building a Frankinstien Poker machine??
-
If battery bad yo can make memory clear in that way:
1. Switch machine on with door switches closed.
2. Open a door switch.
3. Switch machine off.
4. Close door switch(es).
5. Switch machine on.
Old Barcrest machine has credit meter, only you need put pushbutton, if you want play without coins .

I built it from scatch...I don't think I have any of the documentation to build it...I will look, but I think I gave it to the new owner...It was not that hard to build...Maybe around $50 in parts...
