Title: Help Understanding GK software
Post by: rjpohl on January 04, 2021, 07:54:58 AM
Need help understanding which Game Chips can be used with base chips.
M psr's don't list game chips
G0001776 psr gives a partial number (exp: M0000XXX),

Does this mean that any base chip starting with M00000 can be used?

thanks
Bob

Usually the base chip PSR will tell you the game title and the compatible graphics file like C0000351.   The GME PSR also normally does the same.  If they have the same title and graphics file then they will normally be compatible.  In this particular example though, that's not the case.  The M535 PSR gives the game title (GK4.0) but lists the graphics file as C0000XXX.  The G1776PSR doesn't list a game title but shows the graphics file as C0000351.  You don't have anything to link them together with, so the only thing you could then is try it and see what happens.

In this case though we know from experience that those files are all compatible with one another and belong to GK 4.0 even though you couldn't link them from the PSRs.
