This is from Alan
On the RAM chips U30 and U45 Use a volt meter, Black lead on lower left pin, Red on upper right pin, with chip notch facing away from you. Let us know what your battery voltage shows.

Also before the clear, press the Pseudo and Test button each,  a dozen times. The internal contacts do get oxidized .

U30 2.75
U45 2.75
I have tested continuity through the Test and Pseudo buttons, they test good but I’ll try it again

The clear chips you bought, are they the removable type clear chips or the leave in clear chips? It requires a certain procedure for each type. Which do you have?

I read on this forum that you install clear chips and turn Ds1 #8 ON, then do the Test and Speudo buttons in while turning machine on and wait for full clear. Then #8 off and reinstall mains.
Is this not right?

I saw that you are doing a full clear, this will not work. You must do a complete clear.

Had this same error 83FO. Sprayed contact electrical cleaner into the switches where you press on the pencil lead buttons. Sprayed cleaner into each button and press the button 20 30 times  to be sure the contacts get a connection. Did that to all 3, TEST,  PSEUDO, and RESET. Then I did the clear and got it to clear.

Got new clear and main chips
Cleared, seen the CL C, CH C
Put main chips in, went through the setup. Reset, close door, ready to play.
Then Error code 83-3
Checked battery 3.6v (lithium battery in holder)
Did another clear, just in case
Now it’s Error code 88-0  0000
New board?

When you install clear chips and press both  TEST and PSEUDO buttons , keeping holding buttons , turn power on while holding those buttons  , you hold buttons in  till you get CLC.

let go , turn the power off and install the main chips, KEEP the door open,  turn the power on , Keep the door open,  reels will calibrate then they will stop , keep the door open,  you will see 01  01  001, press the service button on the outside of the door, then you should see 50. Now its ready. Close the door.

Did you use contact cleaner on the switches??

Yes I used electrical contact cleaner on switches
I did do the clear as described, main chips back in, reels spun and went through the setup.
Machine was ready to play, went to put quarters in and then code 88-3 came up, checked battery again and got 3.6v on the board
I tried do a clear again, but when the main chips go back in and turn machine on all that happens is code 88-0

...checked battery again and got 3.6v on the board...

You would get a code [81] if the battery falls below 2.2Vdc

Have the MPU board serviced or replaced.
The manual says it has a "Catastrophic Failure."

So after many clears, got codes 88, 88-2, 88-3, 88-6.
I decided to remove and reseat all of the chips on the board.
Did a clear and back up and running.
Hopefully that fixed it. Only time will tell

Thanks for all the help!!!
