I JUST PICKED UP A IGT BONUS POKER CONSOLE IN NISE SHAPE BUT DOES NOT WORK, THE SCREEN HAS A NICE DISPLAY BUT IS LOCKED UP SHOWING THE FIVE CARDS ? IT SAYS CLOSURE RESTART ? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS HOW TO MAKE THE GAME PLAY? THANKS
-
I'd start by checking the battery voltage on the MPU board. You should see at least 2.8V. The new battery should have 3v+.. Take a picture of you MPU Board so we can see what you have.. You may still have the green Varta battery, they should be removed before they leak battery acid. If you battery's good you may need to do a full clear.
-
Also post a photo of the machine with the error message being display, that will help.
-
I checked the battery, voltage I good , it won't let me post picture saying the file I too big,the error that come up is (closure restart)
-
Closure restart just means the door has just been closed - not an error.
-
Are the cards showing up ? or are they showing the backs ?
I don't want to sound obtuse but you can't play the game unless you insert some coins or bills .....
If the coins just fall through to the coin tray the first thing to check is if there is a sample coin in the coin comparator.
Perhaps (like me) the person you bought it from ran it on tokens and a quarter is not a token (or vice versa) and you need to match the sample coin.
If the person who sold it was a cheap-o he might have removed the sample quarter before selling.
If the above has all been addressed and you have 5 credits on the machine I would suspect that you have a bad ground wire going to the buttons.
It is a common wire between all buttons. It breaks - none of your buttons work.
When you open the door - find the white setup button. This should take you to several different test screens.
One of those screens will have a button test. You should be able to press each front door button and see if it works.
You can also drop quarters or coins through and see if the ABC optics are working.
The ABC optic is a 3 optic device - as a coin passess it triggers optic A,B,C this prevents someone stringing a coin and pulling it back.
Sometimes an Optic goes dead or gets dirty and stops working.
It is possible (not highly likely) that the machine is just hung. Often cycling through the screens back to the main page will clear this.
Hope this gives you a place to start.

The cards are showing up meaning you can read them (jack, king seven or what ever) I can't get it to take a coin? Even if I press the little button on the coin mech. I have been wondering if the mech is good? I am going to try and get into the test screens tomorrow and see what come up. Thank for the help I will let you know tomorrow how I make out

Please post a couple of pictures of your machine, one of the MPU board.
-
Pictures would be good.... we need to be sure we are talking about the right kind of machine.
IGT Bonus poker generally infers a IGT PE+
if this is a PE+ then there should be a coin comparator labled CC16 or CC-33 depending if its a quarter (and smaller) or dollar machine.
This should have a sample coin in it. No coin - No compare - No credit.
Beyond the coin comparator there is a little square box below that which is the ABC optic that does have a tiny button on that you can add credits while the door is open.
There is no "mech" per say on this model.
Now if this is an older PE or earlier model like a Fortune I or II we might be dealing with a different beast.

I WILL TRY AND GET SOME HELP WITH PUTTING SOME PICTURES ON, THE COIN MECH LOOKS THE SAME AS ON A S+ SLOT BUT LIKE I SAID I CAN'T GET IT TO TAKE COINS, I CAN GET INTO THE MENU SCREEN BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN I GET THERE? I THERE ANY WAY I CAN FIND OUT HOW TO WORK THE TEST SCREEN? WILL POST PICTURE AS SOON AS I CAN GET THEM ON

If you want to you can email your photos to me and I will post them here for you.
My email address is shown on my NLG profile page, just underneath "Contact Me":

I tried to send picture but can't ? If you send me a email to slotmandave@yahoo.com I will return it with a email with pictures, Thanks Dave

Here are Dave's photos of his Bonus Poker machine, also he says he isn't sure about how to do the tests in the Test/Setup menu screens, if someone can give help on how to use the menu screens that will be great.
(Dave- one of the photos is blurry, if you want to redo it by taking another photo showing the same thing that will be fine. And if you want to post other photos that is also no problem. Might be good to post one showing the inside of the door showing the coin acceptor and coin optics boards, plus a photo showing the entire machine from the front).
I don't know if there was any question about what model machine he has, but I think the photo of the mpu board looks like a PE+ board. Maybe this thread should be moved to the IGT PE+ area, might get more readership and help over there??

I don't know if any of the following was covered in any messages you may have received, but here are things I would check:
Make sure the coin comparitor has a coin installed into it. This coin is called the "sample" coin. If your machine has a coin mech that is different from a coin comparitor, it could have either one, that's why a photo of the inside of the main door would be helpful. If it has a coin mech there won't be a sample coin.
The coin optics boards are just below the coin acceptor, when the coin gets accepted by the coin comparitor (or coin mech) it drops thru the coin optics boards. These boards have optic sensors that "see" the coin passing thru and they send a signal to the main circuit board in the machine (the "mpu" board) and it gives you a credit. If the optic sensors are dirty with dust or grime from years of casino play they may not see the coin.
After the coin passes thru the coin optic boards it goes into the hopper.
When you are in the TEST/Setup menu screens by pressing the white button inside the machine you can make some selections on some screens by using the player pushbuttons on the front of the machine. One of the Test screens is where you can test the coin optics boards. You can take a popsicle stick (or similar) and move it back and forth between the coin optics boards and you'll see the Test screen change as the sensors detect the popsicle stick as it blocks and unblocks the light.

looks like you have a PE+ board, not a super board. looks like the machine is ready to play. according to the pictures you can get into the test screens, just follow the instructions on the bottom of the screen on how to move the cursor and activate the tests using the jackpot reset key. remove the cc-16, with the first test screen up, drop a quarter into the encoder ( coin opening directly beneath the cc-16) you should see the 10_1 change to a 10_0, or put something else into the coin optic to block the optic beam and watch for the change on 10,11, and 12. on 11, you can push the test button and it should change also, but the button only works for 11. this will tell you if the optics are good. with the machine as pictured in the first picture, door open, you should be able to put credits on the machine using the white test button on the optics, sometimes you have to play around with that button sometimes if it hasn't been used in a long time. with the other screens you should be able to test every switch, bulb, etc. using the tests.

This is the screen where you can test the coin optics boards. Just watch where it says "Coin Detector", see if the "1" changes to "0" when you drop coins thru or move a popsicle stick back & forth between the coin optic boards. There are 3 sensors on the boards, called "A", "B" and "C", that's why there are 3 lines on the screen for testing them. Just think of the "1" and "0" as "not detected" and "detected" messages.

You can also press the various console buttons and see the go from 0 to 1
-
It might just be the angle, but it looks like there is a power transistor bent over and touching some connector pins on the bottom right side of the board pictures?
-
That's something to check out, good catch:

Thanks everyone, Still didn't find the problem but still looking, I ordered a new set of optics for the coin mech , kind of stuck till then, I should have them in a week or less so don't forget me,
Thanks Again
-
The optics should show all 1s, as they do in the pictures provided, unless they are blocked by a coin (or popsicle stick). Until you test your optics, there is no reason to believe that you need a new set of optics.
Likely you just need to ensure a sample coin is inserted in the comparator, adjust the sensitivity down so it is less likely to reject coins, and you'll likely be in business.
-
Here is a pic of the coin comparator. Make sure you have the coin in it.
-
Thanks, I have tried a few things with the coin comparator which I am familiar with having worked on s+ slots this is my first video machine ,it is either bad, or I have a problem with the wiring or main board but can't tell what. I order one and hoping it will be in soon. Thanks for your help and if you have any other ideas I would really appreciate hearing them as this machine is driving me crazy.
Thanks Again
-
If you have access to a working S+ you can move it over in 5 min.

Don't know if this could apply to your machine. Is the Coin Comparitor and the hopper disabled to where it only takes bills?
-
Do all of the hold buttons change in the test screen when you press them or only some of them?

It's not possible to disable the coin handling on a PE+ machine without physically blocking the coin entry -- there's no way in the software to do it. It's possible to have all payouts be a hand pay (on every single winning hand), but on any of the standard games there's no way to tell the software not to accept coins.
Do all of the hold buttons change in the test screen when you press them or only some of them?
On that note, press and release each button separately (one at a time only) -- many of the buttons are wired in series and will not work correctly if you mash more than one button at the same time.
