Or you'll be changing out all the little lcd screens in the buttons real soon because these little POS only last about 3-5 years before they all turn black. :banghead:
( Warning....this post may be negative....lol )

Old News My Friend.....................!
So What's The Alternative??
None!
Thanks for the ??? Advice ???
SM

haha...The alternative is to get the standard (static) button deck with LED lamps... :Tongue_Out:
-
So. Will all the games I have that now use the OLED buttons work with standard buttons?
-
No They Won't.....................And I'd bet no one would be willing to do the trade for static buttons!! BORING!!

OKay Ira, you posted while I was typing....I'll throw this in anyway.
I'm not sure because there ARE different versions of the standard and common button decks.
Someone posted a list of which games require certain decks....I can't find it. :sherlock:
Would you have one for members?

For the most part, bb2 games that will run on a bb1 mpu will work with the standard game panel. BB2 games that require the widescreen will most likely not work with a standard panel, with perhaps a few exceptions.

Same thing with IGT dynamic and Edge-Lit buttons.
The OEMs want customers to buy new buttons. :duh: :duh: Not make them last forever. :banghead: :fryingpan:

I think the OEMs don't expect the machine to be in the casino long enough to wear out.
That is why they lease them rather than sell them. Makes it easy to say that $80 machine with the Bewitched theme can be swapped to a $110 Sabrina theme.
The uptick is minimal with the new lease absorbing the break costs of the old lease, all new shiny hardware for the casino and a new box for us in the secondary market.
With good but albiet slowly dimming OLEDs.
-
Here in the Florida racing tracks where class 3 machines are allowed, you see dark buttons all the time on their machines, it is disgraceful really if I were the slot floor manager to see so many machines with OLED panels all but faded out.
-
Can you solder in new Led/Oled or are they sealed units ?
-
The ones I use have just a 30-pin ribbon cable as pictured on my avatar.
Plug and play.
However, there's a different deck where the display is embedded....not sure which one but mine is the edge-lit buttons.
Here's an incomplete video I was trying to make of me changing one out.
I do them much faster now...haha...dang I was slow!
I now use a slightly wider pair of needle-nosed pliers to straighten out the tabs that secure the OLEDs to the button boards...>>>

The video that stayouttadabunker posted is for the regular deck not the splash deck. Very nice video by the way. The splash deck comes apart a little different than the regular. You don't have to twist the 4 metal tabs to get it apart. There are 2 pins on the back side that you squeeze together and then the button will release from the board. I have not ran into one that was soldered in. There maybe but I haven't seen one yet.
-
I wish I would have finished that video....I'll have to make a couple...I do it much faster now...systematically-like a textile seamstress worker...lol
...and guys...Erbs is the best when getting to ya these replacements! I wish you win the Powerball or Mega lottery so you can get 'em in super bulk pricing! lol
-
After replacing the OLED buttons, do you have to clear the machine and go through the game setup process again? Seems I recall a section during game setup where it configures the OLED buttons.
-
yeah...I just switch Families but stay above H9.27 or H13.33.
Works every time.
Hey ! Look at some "tech's " soldering work on one of my button boards!!!....haha
I pulled off and cut the silicone off the power inductor toroid coil and soldered them back on right...got whole board totally working again....>>>

Stayouttadabunker, will Nautilus and Valiant Knight both in the family 13.21 not work after a ram clear setting the button deck to a bb1 standard non oled button panel?
-
I don't know what decks those games require.
Some WMS games do NOT use the OLED decks at all.
Try the "Common" setting maybe?
I'm lucky that I have a "common" or "standard" non-OLED 14-button deck to use for older oddball games on my BB2 cabinet.
I actually don't know the difference between a "common" and "standard" non-OLED button deck?
Maybe someone that knows will chime in and help us here?
-
I believe both Nautilus and Valiant Knight require the BB2 w the oled button panel.

Nothing can't last forever just as people will die...
-
lol...I know...these buttons only have finite lifespan.
Ohh... I wish I never started this Topic... :rotfl:

A local W VA Casino we frequent found a solution. They pasted labels on the dead OLED buttons. Next time we go will take some pics. Even used them on the G23 machines.
