Title: No sound output on IGT 4-reel M-slot
Post by: arcadegameguy on October 17, 2014, 10:55:10 PM
Hi everyone, I got my IGT 4-reel M-slot partially working thanks to everyone's help!  Unfortunately, I'm still stuck on an audio problem.  There is no audio output at all (no coin drop sound, no spin sound, no payoff sound, etc).

I verified that the volume control is turned up, but one thing that's interesting is that when I enter self-test mode, and advance to the "Sound Test" section, I can't advance to any of the actual sound tests (the advance button just doesn't do anything).  I know that the advance button itself is ok, because other self test functions let me advance.

Is there a clue in that self test failure, like is the machine not recognizing that the sound board is present?  Any ideas on what to try, or any sources for an M-slot sound board that I can purchase and try in my machine?

Thanks!

The last time I had a problem like that I fixed it by unplugging all of the audio amplifier board connectors and plugging them back in.

Sorry for the late response on this, but wanted to close the loop on this issue in case others search and find this thread.

The issue was a broken wire in the speaker connector!

Hi Arcadegamguy,

You never said why the following was happening:

I verified that the volume control is turned up, but one thing that's interesting is that when I enter self-test mode, and advance to the "Sound Test" section, I can't advance to any of the actual sound tests (the advance button just doesn't do anything).  I know that the advance button itself is ok, because other self test functions let me advance.

I have a similar problem. And where is the speaker on the board or where does it plug in ?

Thanks.
