Title: bally slot
Post by: cowboygames on March 29, 2014, 08:53:19 PM
Hi guys, I just picked up what looks like a Bally 809 off craigslist in Phoenix for $250 delivered. I'll post a pic he sent of the inside but to see the outside you'll have to see if his ad is still up. My phone is a pain in the a$$ to post links with, sorry. Did I get a deal or a headache?

Not a bad deal if its working and the wiring hasn't been butchered. Its considered to be a Jackpot machine and its not as popular as the regular fruit machines. It looks like the reel strips are the blacklight strips. I have one of these machines and it looks great with the blacklight bulb over the reels. I have the blacklight bulbs if you need one. Can you provide a picture of the top payout glass and the reel glass? I had a reel glass that showed that the machine paid all wins but that was not the case. My machine had a top payout of 2000 coins but the hopper paid out only 200 coins. I have since replaced the reel glass with a correct one.  :applause:

Cowboy, That's a good price on that old classic.. That one known as a JPO, or jack pot only machine. Let me know if you need any help getting it working.. Post more pics when you can..

Thanks for the replies guys, Unfortunately I didn't get back to craigslist before he deleted the post. I found one that looks similar other than mine is a nickel machine and the belly glass says 'Jackpot Pays Up To $100", which if you divide by 5 matches what's on this award glass. I'll post picks when I get in front of the machine on the 10th next month

Dave, to answer your question about payouts, the seller said it has to be reset when a jackpot is hit. There's a key switch which he said was the only known problem with the machine, he doesn't have that key

This is a simple repair if you want to do it, but you don't need the key to reset the machine. Simply open the front door and flick the lever on the switch under the key lock, machine is then reset.

Heck ... all I do to reset it is to drop in another coin and it stops the bell and resets it and its ready to go . Old Reno told me that's the way those machines worked. I scratched my head   :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head:  for days trying to figure out how to stop that damn bell when the payout was complete.

Rob, It is always good to get a blast from the past and challenge,  without that what would we have-- :EmoticonHelp4: B.

Thanks to all for the info! The ultimate decision maker was that the pictures looked really good and it was only $250. Seemed a shame to pass on it. Well, that and it's very similar to the one my ex-wife made me sell so she could get a fish tank. Don't laugh till you reread the ex-wife part of that statement

Occasional Lubricating and clean contacts every now and then. These things are workhorses. If you ever have a problem Barry Fox is the expert

The worst problem I ever had was a hopper overpay. Took me forever to understand then it was a DUH moment.

So I finally got to where the machine is at. Everything looks to be working right other than a couple lamps are out. The belly glass is a bit faded but other than that it is in nice shape. The one thing I did find is that if I get single bars on the payline on reels 1 and 3 and the second reel stops with single bar at the top of the window and 5bar at the bottom the window the machine pays like 3 any bars. If I get the same thing, but with 5bar in windows 1 and 3 then the machine pays like I got 3 5bars on the pay line. Any ideas? Here's a couple pics also

Sorry, it's hard to read in the pic, but it's a model 809-7ZD. I can't find a year of manufacture

Very pretty classic Bally 809.

Mine's on a time-out for run-away hopper.
