Hello, I am a new member here so trying to learn. I did search the forums but couldn't seem to find my exact problem. I have a DBV200 that works sometimes. It will ALWAYS will accept a bill (meaning it will pull it in). It will sometimes process a $1 bill, a $5 bill and even a $50 bills. Sometimes when I insert what looks to be the same type of $1, $5 or other it pulls it in then rejects it. It will never accept it. If I then insert a previous working bill it works fine. I'm not exactly sure what to check so any guidance would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Those 20 plus years old bill heads can be finicky, due to their age they need clean crisp bills in order to see the bill with their aged, old, optic eyes.
I have that same vision problem, fortunately I can use glasses.

Thanks for the reply. Would a newer DBV200 work any better (found a new old stock one)? I would think optics work or they don't (as long as they are clean) but perhaps there is some wear factor.

Newer usually means the software was updated but JCM recommends a calibration of the head be done anytime the software is changed.
Can you be assured the "new" one was calibrated?

Good question and I'm not sure if/how to calibrate. I believe the one that I bought is the same revision as mine though. I couldn't confirm that since part of my label was worn off but I'm not sure mine is original (might have been replaced once). Mine did accept a new $50. Mine just seems sporadic so perhaps the optics are "weaker" if that is possible. I was hoping a new one would read more consistently.
Also, is the only place to clean the part that "flips open" on the top (the black piece). I push back the black "lever" and flip up the reader. There seems to be lenses there. Are there other pieces or a guide somewhere that shows me where to clean?

Don't forget you can put the bills in "four ways" upside down, right, left, and upright!

It only works "heads up". The new validator I am getting has been calibrated so it should be plug and play. I can report back if it solved the issue.
