Title: Interchangeable parts for IGT PE+ ?
Post by: dgalvin66 on October 30, 2016, 06:58:04 PM

I know that some of the parts for the Upright PE+ are interchangeable with a few other models. I just do not know which ones.
Does anyone have a list of what is usable from other machines besides the door optics?

I do need to find a Coin Hopper setup & coin Comparitor as well as the coin slot to install on the panel., 25 cents would be preferred but nickels would be. I know that they can be changed by swapping out the wheel and some other parts.
I might even want to run it on tokens if that is possible.

Thanks
David

A few possible parts that could be common to other models, but you'd want to verify, are:

coin entry head, coin comparitor, coin hopper, coin optic boards below coin comparitor, candle on top of machine, video monitor, player pushbuttons and switches, battery for mpu board, speaker, ac power cord, door cherry switch, bill validator, cash can, 2341 reset key and reset keyswitch, ventilation fan (muffin fan) inside cabinet, the various incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs, ballasts and starters for fluorescent lamps, and maybe the metal coin tray on bottom front of machine.

Token operation is simple, just install a token in the coin comparitor as its sample coin and then play using the same type of token. Tokens are available that mimic the size of common coins such as quarter and half-dollars.

The IGT S+ reel slot machine is from the same era, and many of the parts (coin stuff, hoppers, optics) are common to both machines.

Great, that opens up a little more on what I can look at for any parts.
Thanks

Coin Hoppers although electrically compatible are larger in the S+ then they are in the PE+.

I am pretty sure its just the plastic bowl that is different. It however never has occurred to me to try my smaller PE+ hopper in one of my S+'s

Good to know!  Both my PE+ machines are bartops, which of course have different bowls (and the coin escalator) from my S+ uprights, so I've never swapped them.

the hoppers are identical, the bowls are the difference.  coin heads, bracket assembly, harness,  CC-16 24vac (grey wire)  all the same, reset key switch is the same, optics are the same (on machines that have them) . candle assembly is the same.  on units that had a bill acceptor,  the 145, 200, WBA all the same parts as a S+.

That is great info. I would think that if I find a hopper from an S+ I could modify the bowl to work. Right now one of my machines has none of the coin path parts at all and the other has everything as far as I can tell. I just need to hook it all back up and test it.

I am wanting to replace all of the mini switches for the buttons and wanted to find out what kind they are and what different ones will work. On the sites that I find them they have no description on them so that I can try to find the best prices. I was thinking about getting them from an electronics supply house online.

Have you seen the Spin, Inc website? They have a lot of parts for slot machines, including pushbuttons and switches:

http://www.spininc.com/ (http://www.spininc.com/)

And Ohio Gaming has a lot of items:

There are probably other vendors that have what you need, these are just two I can think of at the moment.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend posting WTB ads in the Classifieds section right here (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?board=4.0) on the NLG site.  Admittedly, the PE+ is becoming pretty outdated technology, but I wouldn't be surprised if at least one or two folks who frequent the classifieds (either vendors or enthusiasts) might have some parts you need.

As soon as I get the 2nd machine up and running I will determine what parts I need and will do just that.
I have the first one running and playable in tournament mode right now and plan to reinstall all of the coin equipment back into it over the next week and test all of that. Then I will know if I need anything for that one and I will start on the 2nd machine.

In the mean time I just picked up an old Summit Coin LTD. Poker for free and was told it did not work. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out that the only thing wrong was a massive coin jam. So I will be playing with that one as well now.

Thanks everyone

David

rokgpsman, I did get a set of new buttons from SpinInc so now I am able to replace the missing buttons and have both machines setup with ALL of them as well as spares. I have been watching both of those sites for parts as well as ebay and several others. The few parts that I have found so far are just way too much for me at the moment. I am going to see if I can get in touch with some of the places here in Las Vegas that might have some of the old stuff laying in the back of a warehouse.

Thanks
David
