Hi, I picked up a 5500 today . Did the battery, clear and change light bulbs. The quarters give me one credit. When I put a 20 in, it only gives me 10 credits and it will only take bills that are all one colour . I think up to 2001. Is the bill validator set to only give me 10 credits when putting a 20 in . I've never seen that before ...thank you...

10 credits for $20 would mean the machine is set up for $2/credit. Need to change DIP Switch JW3 settings for switches 1 - 4 to off, off, on, off respectively to set up for quarter. For $2/ play they would be on, on, on, off. For this change to take effect, must follow with a RAM clear.

Glad you got it working correctly. Switch 5&6 are bill acceptor settings (you are set for JCM DBV) and 7&8 are special features (e.g. setting switch 7 to off will make the reels spins backwards & forwards changing each play - called crazy spin feature). Machine only reads the switches when initializing after a RAM Clear so have to finish with a RAM clear for any changes to take effect.

So if I turn 7 off then do a clear , the reels will spin in different directions and then stop and everything else still works the same . Do I go to the same place to do that to my 6000s to and same prcedure of coarse ...thanks

Answer is yes to your first question. On Bally S6000 can invoke same crazy reel feature but is DIP Switch bank DS2. Switch 7 to off.

Thanks , I will have try that . I got 1 5500 and 3 6000s . I have a 5000+ . Can it be done with it to? ... Do you know where I can get a pad to change the settings for the 5000+ . After the clear it went back to factory ....it's boring ..thanks for the information. In learning more all the time...

The 5000 is a completely different animal so not sure about it. Regarding the key pad for the 5000 you might inquire in the classified section. They are out there.
