Title: Bally Alpha A2 Clear and Game Change
Post by: Border01 on May 02, 2017, 06:43:17 AM
I am wondering if there is a link or instructions somewhere to perform Alpha A2 clear and game change.  I am a little apprehensive on the procedure.

Does the clear card go on the bottom slot?

In the Operating System slot.

Is that the top or bottom?

I don't know without looking. It's printed on the board. Maybe someone else will know.

If you have a alpha 2 machine there is nothing printed on the logic door opening/board-as alpha 1 did have this.  You will notice there are NO cards in the brain box.  If you want to clear install the card in top slot and you will have a menu to clear-execute.  If you want to load a new game you must have the proper install card.  Depending on your Brainbox capability and bios dictates what you can use/run. You have to set the game up after install.  Once you have done this some it's easier than it sounds.

There's a few things you'll need.  First off is the software install card, usually has a 227207x number on it.  That'll go in the top slot.  At the same time you'll need the OS card in the bottom slot (also has the license management, bios  and media services files).  Follow the on screen directions to install all the modules, then when it's complete, power off, and swap the OS card with the game card (leaving the software install card in place), boot back up, and install the game module.  Once that's done, remove all cards and install the license dongle if it has one, and reboot.  Machine will go into setup mode where you can pick the paytable and other options.

If you already have the OS on your HD then skip that step.  Install card in top slot and game card in bottom slot.

The Bally is a 2016 (if that makes a difference). The fellow I bought it from says to put the clear card in the bottom slot and that the latest o/s is preloaded on the hard drive. What happens if I put the clear card on the bottom and it's the wrong one?

Would help to know what's loaded on the game.  This can be found under program version information.

If it's that recent you'll be using the AVOCLR 360 clear card.  Could probably use 356 as well, but if you see a 360 go with that, that'll cover everything.  I don't know of any more recent version for Bally, but SG Gaming (which Bally is now part of) is moving towards all-in-one software install and clear cards or thumbdrives.  My most recent theme conversions have been a mixture of the two.

Thanks very much everyone for the assistance, I appreciate it very much.
Ok I finally got it sorted. Clear card goes in bottom slot. Install in top slot and game card on bottom. Got everything working.  Only issue now is my topper has side lights on but no video display. How do I turn on my topper?

Depends on the game you are playing.  Some games do not support the topper.   Which game is it?
