Title: Displays Netplex Link is Down
Post by: pdburgo on June 20, 2017, 12:17:32 PM
Hey everyone. I have a Red, White and Blue machine. When I power it up, the bill validator initializes, the display says "display passes self test" and the the display says Displays Netplex Link is Down. After about a minute or two, the credits and win display shows "no display" with the alarm.

I cleared with the 224 chip and keychipped it with a 45 chip....still the same results. I'm stumped!! Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

When I get that error its usually the power supply.

Are you getting the alarm noise with the door closed?

I'll have to try the power supply when I get home this evening.

The alarm sounds when the door is open or closed.

If you are using a 1270 enhanced MPU it could be the Varta 3 cell battery is low or bad. Could also be the the power supply behind the reels is loose also.

The alarm sounds when the door is open or closed.

I believe that you have a 50x series board and the Varta battery has corroded.

there is no Varta battery on the board. I removed it. I tried another power supply and I'm getting the same thing.

I would try swapping the board next.  Makes me sad how many 504 boards I have lost due to that damn battery.  Not one of those batteries to be found here anymore, cut them out of 19 machines, LOL.

Well....I swapped out the board and I'm still getting the same thing. This thing is driving me nuts!

Here is what I would try next.. If you have a printer, unplug it, I'd do the same with you bill acceptor. The other is your VDF door display board mounted on the inside or the door could be bad.. Have you tried unplugging, and resetting your plugs on the mother board?

Just found the time to work on this again. I disconnected the printer and the bill validator and I'm still getting the same thing. The display says it passes self test but then it just goes to displays netplex link is down. After a minute or 2 the alarm goes off and in the credits and win meters no display shows.

Did you try a different VDF display board? If I read correctly you have changed power supply's behind the reels and a second MPU Board? Have you tried unplugging and re connection all the mother boards plugs?

Did you make sure the power supply behind the reels is seated well?

I'm waiting on a VFD board. Question - Could the VFD board be bad even if I get the display and it passes self test on start up?

Did you try replacing the door I/O board?  Also, make sure the I/O board besides the MPU is in all the way.
