Title: Need your help with Bally S9-1
Post by: NeoNeo2 on July 12, 2017, 05:07:14 PM
Hello Experts,

I need your help.  I'm trying to make this Bally S9000 work and it always stop during initializing game with a blank black screen.  My hunch is the NVRAM & EEPROMs need to be cleared. The OS is AVOS00000316-05.  I don't have the clear chip, but if you have one I will buy it.

Thanks

Seems like you need a master set if you want to fool with these. Thanks for my K+ on the other post witch I did not get.  If you want to buy piece by piece it costs more $.  Just saying, Were here to help but not give stuff away for Free.  Sometimes the Knowledge fix's many things.

I didn't know there's a master clear chip as I'm new to this Bally Alpha. Of course I would like to buy the whole set, it'll be useful now or later.  The big question is; does it cost an arm and a leg?

For all the diff. OS there's a diff. Clear.   This is why many change to the 336 Os/Bios set up/ and a 335 clear.  That being said You may be running some 256 turds there.  Those are slower than the 512's and here you go-if you did your research you know a 1-gig bumped to 2 gig is much faster.

So where do I find the type of OS/bios set up I have?  I also posted a picture of the start-up screen.

I have a bad feeling that the game is damaged and won't load, then again the Bally Alpha has a reputation of boot up failure.

Thanks

Neo, Just un hook your cables and slide the mpu out. LOOK at the Bios chip and document the number. At that point after you do more research you will know much more that has been documented here.

Ok.  My BIOS chip is a AVBPROD0R807-00 ST, which means 317 OS is needed, right?

Neo,  Did you find the Bally Matrix spread sheets here?.  That would answer your and many others questions.  If not I can load it up later here.  I thought it was still here.  It tells about what's compatible with all alpha 1 brain boxes and what bios/clear to use.  I just logged in so it will be a few before I can do that if you still have questions.

No, I didn't find that matrix and please load it if you have it.  I guess clearing the bios would be a start to find out the exact problem, there's no straight solution...so I'll experiment.

Neo, Sorry to double reply but I just uploaded to the NLG File System the Bally Matrix for Alpha 1.  It should help you and others here. You have to be a Contributing member here to access (Green).

Also,  The Bios is just a chip that stays in MPU and the clear card is the clear card and of course you have the Jurist. chip.  The info I put in should help many. Go to Bally then choose Alpha and you should find it.

Thanks 777sizzler.  There's more Karma on your way.

Here's a stupid question;
I didn't see the bios AVBPROD0R807-00  and matching OS  AVOS00000316-05 clear chip for my slot machine.

Print it out doctor.  Good info for all of them.  Hope it helped.  It was a way I could help you and many others on the alpha platform without getting into jiberish details here.   :cool_thumb_up:   Gotta contribute to get it!!!.

Identify your exact brain box then go from there, The bios chip dictates what you can use if it's compatible in the box with the appropriate clear needed. The Matrix will tell it all if you look.  You spoke of a 316 clear card-That's old stuff.  Print the data and go over it.

Make sure your doing everything properly.  The Operating sys. card on those goes in top slot and game card in bottom.  I always kick the game card out (push black eject button) and install my clear to be safe.  Once cleared, Power down, reinstall game card and operating sys. card.  Don't know if your new to this or not is why I posted this.  Just follow the on screen prompts. Once all that is done you will have to set the game up.
