Title: Universal slot machine error code 50
Post by: highlander97405 on October 19, 2017, 04:42:36 PM
I have a universal slot machine that shows error code 50.  It was working fine now it won't go off.  I have checked the switches and they seem to be working. I have done several resets, nothing seems to work. Help!

Is there a small, grey, "U" shaped plastic piece below the door lock?
That is a door opto sensor, try unplugging its 3 wire connector and plugging it in a couple of times.

Yes there is,  I unplugged it and plugged it back in several times but still have code 50.  The sensor light comes on when I put the key in the locked position.  Code 50 doesn't clear when I close the machine and insert coins like it should.

I believe you can press the service button until you see a #6 in the display,  then a three digit number will appear, when you activate a switch, sensor, or what ever the three digit number will change to that particular item you are trying to check.  there is a chart in the manual that tells you what number corresponds to what switch, sensor etc.   this usually will tell you if the item is working.  I had a similar problem with the top handle optic, I ended up stealing the bottom coin chute optic and reconfigure it to work in the handle,  if both of your optics are the same, with the same color wiring for power, you might be able to do the same. CAUTION, there are two types of optics, some used +5vdc (pink wire)  I believe there was another version that ran on a different voltage, would have to check the book when I get home.

I performed test #6 and it showed 203.  When I tested the door lock it changed to 003.  Pushing the other switches or pulling the handle did not have any effect.  The handle sensor doesn't have the same color wiring  (Pink, Black, Purple) as the lower coin sensor (Pink, Black, Yellow with Black stripe).

this may sound wierd, with the door optic open you would think you could test all the other items, I had to close the door lock (with the door open) and then I was able to test all the buttons and sensors, but the fact that you are getting a 003, the cpu is seeing that sensor as been closed (blocked).

the pink wire and black wire are just the +5vdc and ground being applied to the emitter optic,  the pink wire also jumps to the other board,  that +5vdc is sitting there waiting to be transferred through the detector when the beam is blocked by the metal tab, which is moved into place by action of the lock cam movement.  then the 5vdc is put onto the third wire and sent to the cpu to tell it the door is closed. the purple wire and yellow with black tracer are the wires that carry the signal back to the cpu board.

I think your optic is working if you are getting the 003 code.    the machine I am working on does not use a optic sensor at the door lock, it has a switch with a trip lever that is activated by by the lock cam.

may the sensor that is displaying 203 is your problem??

turn the lock cam until you see the 003, then try all the other switches and sensors and see if they change to the number they represent.

Some machines have a second door switch, a white button switch. You can pull the button out to close that switch.

Did that and no change.  I switched the sensor on the handle with the one at the bottom and no change.  Did I mention that the door open chime goes off about every 2 minutes.

After reading the manual I think I know what the problem is.  While running test 6 in-port test  code 003 shows up when that sensor is activated.  code 203 was because I had the meter reading key on. I can get other codes to show up if I trip the sensor.  Nothing happens when I press the door close button so I'm assuming there is a problem with it.  I tested the switch and it checked out.  Another thing is my machine has 2 push buttons one right below the reset button (it controls an inside light as well) and another one to the left of the reset button (not shown in the manual)

Okay, so the second switch isn't connected to anything and the primary switch isn't sending a signal to wherever.  It looks like the blue wire that completes the ground goes into the box that keeps track of the coins in etc but I'm not sure.  Is there a way to bypass this switch without taking everything apart?  so close, but yet.......

Finally got it fixed!  ended up cleaning the contacts on the cpu and she works like a charm now!
