Title: IS it possible... Geting coins to work on WMS BB2
Post by: RubySlipperLover on January 22, 2018, 09:35:52 AM
I’m getting a BB2, wondering if it would be possible to add a comparitor and hopper to make it accept coins. If so... what brands and how would I go about getting them??? If it’s not possible is it possible on BB1???

WMS Did make coin in/out for the bb2 for a very limited time.  I have seen the coin parts posted somewhere in this site I believe.  But that has been my only exposure to it.

Here's the link to my post with photos:

Definitely doable in a BB1 cabinet.  Mine is a BB1 cab, that I’ve converted to be able to run BB2/3 games. I’m running an MC-40 coin comparator, a Gamesman hopper, dollar size tokens, dollar coin head, etc.

ok so it’s looking like my second machines gonna have to be the coin machine. That one i’m hoping to get a monopoly jackpot station... I know..I know i’ll never find one. But I can dream because that’s the only bb1 game i want other than the original WOZ w/ flying monkey wild bonus. My first games gonna be a ruby slippers. saving up for it now and i thought, wow wouldn’t it be nice to have a hopper/comparitor for it. I don’t know what my problem is with wanting all these game, parts, equipment, that is so hard to find. I’m thinking of starting a business to link all of us slot junkies who want really weird crap together.

Works in a BB1 for sure, but even if the BB2 door has it in the design meaning it has room for it, you are still missing the rails for the hopper, receiver plate and harness.  All that hardware which will not be there and they didn't make much of them because when the BB1 came out it was mostly bills / tickers.  Also the door needs the return coin slot and coin catch.  So in short, not sure why you want to add it besides from pure nostalgia.   Better to get it setup for taking the ticket back in vs messing with coins.    Coins get old quick and due to the higher dollar amounts it's not practical aside form setting the coin or token to $100 or higher to enable putting more $ faster on the machine but again ticket is better.

damn... was got me again. That’s what I figured. Yea pure nostalgia you caught me red handed. i’ll just have to do it on bb1 i get down the line. btw i would keep the bill validator working but yeah i see your point about the hopper, could do pennies but the payoff would be annoying as hell.

Last I checked no pennies in modern era hoppers either :)

Still you would be best ti have it set it as a token value for payoff as anything small would be annoying when that cash out button is pressed.   So load up a few $100 and then have that good friend of yours or one with kids hit that payout button and you will have a hopper run off :(

But it's good fun to hear those coin tap around, music to my ears but wears off quickly.
