Title: Is there a problem writing eproms with Windows 10?
Post by: hemiroid on May 26, 2020, 10:16:39 AM
I am helping a buddy learn his new eprom programmer to back up his Aristocrat eproms.
Being long distance I can not see what he is doing but I am being told he is experiencing errors on most all backup eproms he has tested.

I do all my backup work on a Windows XP computer.
He is using a Windows 10 computer.

Windows 10 does not play well with CF card backups, it adds a few bits of extra info causing cards to fail to work.
Has anyone experienced the same when using Windows 10 and Aristocrat eprom backups?

There are no issues using windows 10 and writing eproms.  The issue with CF cards is that the system tries to mount the storage device and thus writes bits of data on the card.  Eproms are not storage devices as identified by windows.

Thanks Rick!
I can not blame the problem on that then...
