Title: Opnions of this machine
Post by: RobinAK on March 28, 2021, 06:58:29 AM
Howdy. So being offered this Bally. Have not seen it in person yet. Has some sorta reel function issue. I know the photos are crap but this is all I have so far. Just curious what you all think of it. I like the 4 reels &  card game theme. Tag says Bally, Ireland. I know with the crappy photos its hard to see it but in general what do you think is a fair price? I'm in the gotta have it mind set as I  really like the card game theme. It also comes with the  org stand and manuals

A couple of factors would be the voltage for operation and type of coin it takes.

Anywhere between 1 to 2 hundred would be a good price for a non functioning machine.

Not very traditional to typical Bally, so it could effect the price either way.

Wouldn’t pay over $400. unless it’s something you have to have.

As for the reels not spinning, probably a minor adjustment / correction.

I'd be most concerned about the condition of the glass and reel strips as you probably won't be able to find replacements for them. Also the cabinet and chrome is important but not as likely to be an issue.  Mechanical issues can be fixed.

I'd probably try for $300 assuming the cosmetics were good and no obvious red flags.  Of course, I'm in an area where machines are plentiful although I'm not the only person looking for Bally EMs.  What is the market in AK like?  Higher or lower than less remote areas?

$300 is too much, spend a bit more on a machine you will love the rest of you life, my choice wuold be a 873!

model 1166 had reel tape codes "AUST.POKER-[1-5] and was just called "poker slot"  The extra tape would be for different percentage version of the machine.

paperwork would be difficult to find, so if it doesn't come with at least a schematic - and you needed one - you'd have to figure out if it's similar to an earlier machine model with some updates like molex plugs.   The size of the cabinet is like the "continental" games.

fortunately the basic circuits were similar for many machines and it doesn't get complicated unless they added a bunch of diodes to the payout circuits.

I'd probably buy it just because it's different if the price was reasonable.

Well we will see. I am waiting for him to come up with a price. Now he wants to review and see what he paid for it. I offered 350 after he said that and no response back. Some people think these machines are worth so much more.

Well for now the guy is saying hew is too busy to deal with it. Though he contacted me about it to begin with  :Scratch-Head: ? Oh well time will tell. I know 300 is a lil much. He has the manuals as well as the stand so that helps justify cost a little. But it seems as if AK location add at least 25% to anything.

Looks like an Australian model, as it was made in Ireland, and "Aust Poker"
Slots are called Poker Machines here, as earlier models all had card themes, and even new ones today generally incorporate Jacks, Queens, Kings etc regardless of the theme.
