Title: Mega Touch Force 5.5 Reboots while playing games
Post by: Amechanic on September 19, 2015, 05:08:35 PM
I have a Mega Touch Force 5.5 that wants to reboot sometime in the middle of a game? It goes all the way back to the start up menus.. I have quick checked the connections inside and nothing seems to be loose? I was wondering if I have a problem with the touch screen controller, or could it be in my power supply? This is in one of the wood cabinets, not the plastic ones..

Thanks, Gary

Random reboots on almost any platform is power supply related.  I would look for bulging caps.

Might as well close this thread.. I changed the power supply with a comparable replacement. After powering back on I had not touch screen. Shut it off to check the connections and found nothing loose. Turned it back on, but now I have no video output, its just beeping   :banghead:.. So I unplugged and shoved it in the corner. I guess it wasn't happily to get the new power supply??  :Scratch-Head:

Gary make sure the power supply voltage slide selector switch is set to 120 volts and not 220.

I forgot about the RAM... Depends on which board you have,it will beep if its dirty (not making contact). Some will not. Clean with a eraser ,or just try switching it...I'm still going with fans

Fans seen good. I did see at least one cap bulging in the old power supply. My new power supply has the same voltages, just rated at a little higher amps. Just meens it doesn't have to work as hard and should run cooler. I'll have to pull it from the corner since the holidays are done. Maybe with a little CPR it might show life. I was wanting to update to and 2008 or later game, but I'm not sure how new I can go? This is one of the grey wood cabinets..
