Title: CRT to LCD conversion help - GM V7200
Post by: Cooper85 on July 13, 2023, 04:05:43 PM
Thanks to this forum I was able to fix up a Bally GameMaker!! ...but the CRT died after about a week of use. I've been trying to use a VGA breakout cable along with instructions for a V7000 to hardwire a replacement 4:3 LCD screen, but I'm not having any luck with my V7200. Hopefully someone can provide a little direction for me:

1. Does the monitor's AMP receptacle (19-pin, same as used for the coin hopper) need to stay connected to power the two boards that used to manage my CRT? Or can I connect my VGA breakout cable directly to the female pin spots of that connector? (which would cut power/etc from moving upstream to those CRT controller boards)

2. Can anyone confirm which pin(s) on the AMP receptacle or the main board's monitor cable would be the ground on my V7200 model? The closest schematic for a V7000 shows main board grounds on pins 3&13, but those are both empty on mine.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Seach on this:
"Bally Gamemaker V7000 CRT to LCD Conversion"
This is a "No Touch" Conversion.
Sorry but I do not know how to reference an old post in a reply.

Thanks Anntron, but I've already checked every thread and the instructions for V7000 are incomplete for my setup, hence the reason for my post regarding my V7200.

Can anyone advise whether the AMP receptacle needs to stay plugged in to power the two CRT/monitor boards? I've been trying to splice directly into the line between the monitor plug on the main board and the female end of the AMP receptacle, but still haven't had any luck. Thanks!
