Is it just a harness to a PC or do I need a special tool of sorts? Or if you have some, I'll just buy a pair from you. The third machine I traded for an S2000, it was also a B&W 7's.

I can only do GEN2 printers.

Have you tried turning on the printer? Maybe the 850 is already programmed?

Ken,

That just jogged my memory.  I remember now getting in some a couple years ago that had 850's in them and I never could get them to work.  Actually they were missing the harness from the printer comm board to the standard plug that runs to the back plane.  Looked like the casino just shoved them in there to make them "parts complete".  Seems logical they should work but can't confirm any success on my end.  In that case I bit the bullet and bought Gen 2's and put them in.  I can get the Gen 2's and Ithaca 950's to work.

Ken:
The first machines that I purchased came in with GEN1s printers .. was not an option in the Alpha program menu .. at least what I tried didn't worked. All the harnesses was there for the GEN1 connection. I also think the casinos kept the RS232 printers and reached into the magic drum of slot parts and filled the void. I haven't found any RS232 printers that are reasonably priced yet and I would have to make sure I could get the correct harnesses.

I was in Miami a month ago and played around with the Alpha for a couple of days. The only printer I worked with was the GEN2 RS232. I was able to program it for the Alpha with CA jursidication and GEN2 GRU561C35 software. I sat there and printed 100 tickets so I figure that was successful. FL didn't work with C35 software. I haven't seen any Ithaca printers in the machines that I have but I remember seeing Ithaca in the menu. So the 850 may not be an option like the GEN1. Could be the 950 in the menu. I will have to admit that I did not try to find out if the GEN1 has software available since it wasn't listed in the program menu.

The printer didn't come with it, I had it laying around and I believe it was at one point working with a BB2 machine.  I was planning on using a TITO board on it anyway, so I guess the jurisdictional chip wouldn't matter.

All my alpha's have gen 2 rs-232's in them-not to say 950's may work,  Have not tried.  I am not big on printers anyway.  I do have piles of printers-lot's of gen 2's mostly igt and some bally williams.  Will try and test some as time allows.  Protocol on bally and wms was rs-232 all the way I thought on bv's and printers- :Scratch-Head: .  I do also have some strange devices that convert signals to rs-232 -some made by bally (at least their logo is on them etc.) .  Rick- Also make sure you have all the proper clear cards on hand depending on the OS platform you will be using(You prob. already know!).  The hottest one I have seen for most app's is the 336-os series and a 335 clear.  Of course other cobinations.

Ken:
Here is what it looks like with the progressive programmed.
