have to disagree with part of this video the random number generator stops when you drop the first coin not when you push the spin button.
What do you guys think.?

When you have credits on the machine, isn't it at the spin button press?   If you have bet buttons, then I would agree since your wager is now locked at that point and you can't back out of the game without playing at least one spin.  Also it probably doesn't happen when you insert bills either.

You're absolutely right with the inventor of credits... the old rule was when you dropped a coin it stop the ring generator. 
So I guess you could say anytime you hit bet one. Insert a coin. Or hit play Max. The instant you hit that button or drop a coin in the ring generator stops.

Yes, I think the "rule" is whenever a wager is placed, the RNG is determined.  So whatever constitutes the point of no return as far as a wage being placed, that is it.  In the old days, of coin only, the wager was as soon as you drop the coin and the machine accepted it.  Nowadays, inserting a bill does not constitute a wager since you can just cash out the same amount.  Only when you actually bet.  It makes sense that way.

Based on what I've read from many reputable sources, the outcome is determined the instant the reels are spun or the cards are dealt.

And it's the same whether you press "deal" or "bet 1 per line" or "max bet"—or pull the handle.

And all the reel-spinning and card-flipping is all for show—the outcome was already determined at the micro-second you started the action.

Also, I've read that in video poker, the draw cards are determined when you press "deal" the second time. In other words, if you draw four to a royal, the final card you receive is determined after you hold four cards, and then you press "deal."

At least in Vegas, per Nevada gaming commission law, a video poker deal/draw function has to be mathematically accurate to the game mechanics as if it were played with a single deck of 52 cards; that is to say, if you are dealt four to the royal, you have a 1/47 chance of getting the card you need when you hit the button.


How the game code actually accomplishes this on a low level (logic flow of code execution, pRNG, etc) is only knowable if you either have the source code to the game and OS, or you take the time to decompile/disassemble the ROMs yourself. Some of us are working on such things, perhaps.

I remember when me and a friend used a video camera on a video game that had like 80 lines I think it was.
We kept pressing the stop button thinking we were going to line up the reel symbols.
We lost about $40-$50 bucks.
We watched it at home in super slow motion.

The "real" reason the stop reels function exists is for the casino to get more money out of you.  You gamble faster.  I tell my mom to let the machine stop the reels by itself, so her money lasts longer.    She also used to stop the credit rolls ups, but then I told her it was part of the fun, so now she lets it go on big wins to enjoy the moment.

That's what I do also. If I hit a big win I let the music play out. On women looked at me and said " why don't you just press the button and stop that noise" My response was that I paid a lot of money to hear it make that noise and I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can.
