Find JW11 and JW12 on your Game Maker board.
Make sure the jumper is on JW11 and not JW12.
If it is on JW12 there are 3 more chips being powered by the battery to sense door open when power was off and the additional chips suck energy from the battery at a faster rate.

This is not needed for home use, the jumper on JW11 allows the battery to only provide backup voltage to the RAM chips which draw very little power from the battery.
