SC6602 only reads tito tickets upside down?

I have an IGT G23 with the SC6602 validator. I recently installed the tito@home and everything works great except one thing.
My validator will only read the tickets when they are upside down. Is my validator assembly installed upside down? I purchased the machine from a pretty reputable dealer and cant see any other way it would mount.
I have never seen the inside of a G23 other than my own so I dont know if it is indeed installed right side up.
Pictures are attached and I would love to see the guts of your machines.

Yes a 6602 will only accept tickets upside down.  G23 has a upstacker made for a 6612U.  At least it works.

I don't know why IGT made those machines with upside down bill validators.... :banghead:
