Will this work for my Bally E1000 machine ..

I broke some pins on 1 of my chips for my Bally E1000 slot machine . I found one but not sure if it will work, the pic in the blue is the one that I found . If it will work do I need to program it or anything ? Thanks Jim

We need a pic of the one with the broken leg to determine if the new chip will be a suitable replacement. And yes, most likely, it needs to be programmed with something...

The DM7417N chip is a simple buffer chip containing 6 individual buffer elements, there is no need and it can not be programmed.

Both pictures are of the same type ic, the industry number for it is "7417",,, so Yes the part in your 2nd picture would work. The prefix of "DM" means it is a Fairchild Semiconductor design but other brands will work also since it is a standardized part. The 2 squiggly lines that roughly look like an "N" is the logo for National Semiconductor, a large electronics company that used to own Fairchild and probably produced the part in their ic factory. (National is now owned by Texas Instruments). The suffix letter "N" just means it is a 14 pin dual inline package (DIP). The "P8326" writing is a factory production code, probably means the ic was made in 1983, 26th week or batch but it is for their internal records and could mean something else.

Your first post that started the thread said you had found another one, from that I thought you had already located one and just wanted to know if it needed programmed. IC legs are thin and can be damaged if bent, need to use care when inserting or removing them from sockets.
