Hello,
Now that my machine halfway runs (accepts quarters and plays) I would like to get the BV to work. There are no LEDs lit on the actual unit but the outside bezel is lit and code says its enabled. Power supply board looks cooked. I tried to clean it and reinstall but still nothing. Attached are pics of the unit and board.
Jim has a replacement board but is there anyway I can definitely determine it to be the board vs .......
Thanks,
Philip

You can check the output voltages on the power supply.
I am someone will chirp in here and say what they should be.
Might be able to find them on the JCM website.
JMC = Japanese Cash Machine is the maker of the DBV series.

Thanks Jay,
I did try to measure the power but unsure if I am doing it right. Im not a meter expert but I think im using it right, just not testing the right wires. I assume 120AC is feeding the board to convert it DC power, so I guess I need to check that first? Any step by step guidance would be super helpful for me. Im not fond of electricity or fiddling around with it too much. The outside bezel does light up so does this mean I am getting power to the board but not from the board to the actual BV?
Thanks

I have never seen an adapter plug like the one that is on your machine? usually the plug that comes out of the power supply plugs directly into the head. what does the other side plugs look like??

Jim,
Are you referring to the white and black plug? I will take more pics and trace the wires.
Thanks

Was there a cover for that thing? lol
Can't believe all the solder joints are exposed like that.
One main cap looks swollen....there's a fuse on it...you should check that too.
But all the blackened area...definitely been severely overheated...worth getting a new one.
Probably half of the IC components on it are starting to fail and fall outta specifications and giving out flaky voltages...if any.

Stayouttadabunker,
Thanks, yes there is a black cover that has a "cook" marks on it. The board looks in pretty bad shape. I tried to clean it and will post pics of it as well as the harness connections. I did check the fuse and its ok.
Am definitely gonna get a replacement just trying to pin point it so my wife doesnt get mad at me.....
Thanks again,
Philip

Tell her I said cleaning that is like cleaning the burnt toast you make in the morning....doesn't taste much better. lol
Noooooo...don't say that to her...give her a kiss...haha :rotfl:
Spend a few bucks ...you guys are worth it for a little pastime fun... :)
Ask around for the silver power supply...it has more wattage than the junky plastic ones. :cool_thumb_up:

Jim,
The black adapter plug goes to the outside bezel that does light up. I see what you mean in that the white plug that is plugged into the black adapter should go directly into the BV unit. I did try plugging it in directly bypassing the adapter and still nothing and the bezel did not light up. So......there is apparently some power coming out the white plug that feeds the bezel. Please let me know if you have this board as I am leaning pretty heavy that its the problem. Or do you suggest something other that I try? I have attached some pics of the adapter wire and showing where it goes to the bezel. Also the inside of the black cover showing the cook marks.
Thanks,
Philip

appears that is a "smart JCM bezel" it should typically tell the status of the unit, has a blue light when first on, the shows a red lamp if an error, typically shows the denomination of the bill that it just accepted.
I can't remember seeing that setup for a S+, have seen them for WBA on a S+, maybe someone else could respond with their memory and knowledge.

Jim,
When I turn on the machine the bezel flashes blue, then flashes red, then turns to all green except for the $10 symbol which stays yellow.
I have attached pics. Couldnt catch it during the blue/red flash.
Thanks,
Philip

Just for future viewers.
Which power supply did you end up getting?
-
The power supply has the black plastic cover with the ventilation slots. Still works fine! BV only takes ones and twenties but Im ok with that.
Got the power supply from Jim.

The silver power supplies are for WBAs and do not have the correct connectors for the DBV-200s.
