Arcade games
« on: December 03, 2021, 11:40:08 PM »
I am new to this forum and slot machines in general.  I picked up an IGT AVP machine today and it's loaded with a bunch of games.  I feel like I got a great deal on it considering that E-Key 7 goes for around $400 and this machine included that + diagnostic drive.  It needs some TLC (I enjoy this kind of thing).  Loose screws here and there, a few OLED displays dark etc.

Anyhow onto the topic.  I've been into classic arcade games (full size arcade, not arcade 1up).  I like to get them working.  I believe I enjoy getting them working more than actually playing them some times!

Here's a list of my current games:

Hard Drivin' (compact)
Millipede (with the multi game kit.  Centipede, Warlords, Breakout)
Taito Classic cabinet with Zookeeper marque and bezel.  (JROK Zoo-Q board going in it this weekend)
Sega Turbo
Galaga
1942 (Time Pilot also in it, just have to move edge connectors)
Cabal in a Super Pacman cabinet
Phantom of the Opera pinball
High Speed pinball
Toki in a cocktail cabinet
Bitkit in a cocktail cabinet
Nintendo Red tent (rotate various games in and out of it regularly)
and of course it wouldn't be complete without a Pole Position 2 that's currently dead.  (tough board to keep running)

I am in the Arlington, WA area and will probably be on the hunt for 1 more slot machine for the game room.  I want a 3 or 5 reel that still takes coins!

EDIT: Forgot a few

Asteroids Deluxe (with the mutigame kit)
Racing Force

Galaga (Cabaret with HSS kit)
Gorf (Cabaret with HSS kit)
Tron (Cabaret with Satan’s Hollow HSS multi kit)
Robotron (Cabaret)
Tempest (Cabaret with Tempest Tubes HSS kit)
Centipede (Cabaret with Millipede board multi HSS kit)
Battlezone (Cabaret with HSS kit)
Missile Command (Cabaret with Suoer Missile Attack HSS kit)
Asteroids Deluxe (Cabaret with Asteroids board and Multi HSS kit/Lunar Lander and Asteroids Dlx)
Monaco GP (Cabaret)

Thanks,
Jason

Good list of games there Jason!  Your list made me realize I forgot to list a few on my post.

Tempest and Robotron are ones I will pick up eventually!

I have just one full sized arcade cabinet, a Double Dragon that I modified to have the 6 player buttons on each side so I could play my Mortal Kombat I, MKII and UMK III boards.  I actually bought the boards new originally from a distributor when the games were hot (I paid like 4K each).  I also have:

Crazy climber (with a jamma harness converter).
1941
Robocop

I'll eventually get one of those multi-game type modules and probably change out the old CRT for an LCD (although the CRT is in fantastic condition).  The cabinet is in great shape, and the monitor is on a frame that you can convert from vertical to horizontal by just pulling out the frame and twist it 90 degrees, then you have to degauss it, LOL.

Oh man try not to ditch the CRT if you can avoid it.  Guys in the arcade community will have a stroke!

Most of those cheap multi game cards are trash.  There's a few decent ones but you're looking at around $150 to start.

Rick, go with an ArcadeSD or BitKit for an all in one solution.  FPGA instead of crummy emulation that some of the 60-in-1 garbage solutions offer.

Yeah, don’t ever get rid of your CRT.

^^^ 100%

ArcadeSD is pretty decent but sound isn't quite right on a few games.  ZooKeeper, 1942, few others.
Bitkit is awesome and seems flawless so far but doesn't have some of the better games on it.
I just picked up a ZooQ (FPGA) and have yet to install it but the reviews are it's spot on!
If you decide to ditch the CRT please keep it complete and offer it up online, someone will want it.
