? in reference to monitors for different machines.

I’m new at repairing/replacing monitors. I’ve noticed that on some monitor chassis there will be an IGT sticker. I just saw one that is a Kortek and the chassis board has an AVP chip mounted on it. When I go to troubleshoot a monitor like that, Is it Specifically designed for just that model machine, or can i try it in a I-game for example.
Some 40+ years ago, when I would repair a TV, it didn’t really matter who made the CRT and board. If the specs matched, I could interchange a RCA tube or board with ZENITH.
I haven’t seen any basic “rule of thumb” for Video Slot machines. For example, I have a 21” (25 pin) Kortek monitor that came out of an AVP machine. It’s dead and I was wondering If I could hook it up, and Use it for my bench test monitor. If Not is there a thread or info anywhere that will educate me as to what I can do or can’t with these monitors? Thank You for any clarification on this matter.

If you have the same resolution monitor (cga, ega, vga, svga) and you know the pinout for the video and sync signals, you can use a compatible monitor on most games. I have had to build several adapter cables over the years (video poker and slot, as well as arcade games/monitors), but I do several makes and models, so it was worth it for testing.
