Title: SATTLEY MODEL "S" SORTER/COUNTER bridge rectifier, Motorola mda 952-6 7446
Post by: jgriner on June 16, 2022, 07:28:42 PM
im trying to get an old coin counter/sorter running, my limited electrics knowledge says the bridge rectifier is bad... (rip my power strip).... but heres the problem i cant find anything on this old rectifier. Motorla mda 952-6 7446, any old genus electronics techs on here have old manuals can tell me a replacement or spects for it?

What year is that sorter made?
All I was able to find was Motorola ...>>>
MDA952-1 (6-8 amps at 50 volts)
MDA952-2 (6-8 amps at 100 volts)
MDA952-3 ( 6 amps at 200 volts)
blank
MDA952-5 (6 amps at 400 volts) Link...>>> https://www.ebay.com/itm/153805664854 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/153805664854)

One page somewhere showed me that the MDA 952-6 was a 5 amp rectifier....so I' not sure because it doesn't seem to follow the list above.
I found a Motorola cross reference sheet on bridge rectifiers from 1988 that might help ya?
Specifically pages 1-34 for rectifiers....maybe you can match and find a direct replacement?
Look at this link below...>>>

I found this datasheet.

You said limited electronics knowledge- you can test the rectifier with a meter. It's basically 4 diodes, 1 across each pin/tab. See if any are shorted, that may explain why your power strip died. If not shorted, something else took out your strip- motor, motor driver, etc.

Good find on that sheet Trisail!

That means the MDA952-6 is 6 amps at 600 volts.
Would this work?...>>>

Yes it will work. That one is solder/pcb mount with one mounting hole in the center. Your original looks like solder, not tabs. 2 mounting holes.  I'm sure if you look some more you can find one that is like the original if you want to make it easier to replace.  Plus you could get one with tabs and crimp connectors on the wires instead of soldering.  May be even easier.

thanks guys, huge help..... i think i have one ordered, ill work on it when i get back to town tues and post video of it running.

the diode pack, is signal voltage through limit switches, and into the counters, they are 110v dc. YIKES

sorry i have no clue, the year... i work on coin machines irl, but this machine is mine.... our work server kicked the bucket last week and the shared drive has been down ever since.... im dying to see it restored so i can see if the co has any doc on this machine.
