Title: Slant Top Video Poker Machine Bad Color on CRT
Post by: toolmanmtc on June 03, 2019, 05:57:19 PM
I have a 1997 vintage IGT slant top Poker Machine,  it worked great until a few days ago when the color on the CRT changed, the cards and some of the background color turned brown along with the color of the rest of the screen not being correct.  Adjustment did not change the colors.  Next I replaced the CRT board (ceronix 1492) the new board did not correct the problem, same bad colors.  Does anyone have a suggestion on what I should do next to fix the issue.  Thanks Mark...

Sounds like one of the color guns in the tube may have gone bad.

Thank You Paul for that suggestion, I believe I have another tube, I will swap it out and see if that takes care of it.  I will advise on the outcome.

I swapped out the tube and the picture did not change, the color remains screwed up.  (See Attached Picture)  I am starting to believe the problem may be on the main board.  Any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks Mark...

If your main board has any edge connections that might slide into a back plane or motherboard. Try cleaning these connections with a pink eraser.

Thank You for the suggestion on cleaning the connectors, however after doing this the color didn't improve.  Any other suggestion?   Thanks Mark...

Sounds like your having an issue with the video on your MPU board. You could try removing the socketed eproms, then reseating them. If that doesn’t help your next step would be to send the MPU in to be checked and serviced. The other choice would be to buy a replacement MPU, then swap your game eproms to the new board and try that. One thing you can do, is to check the wiring connections to see if any of the connectors have come loose of the plugs.

Thank you for your comments, very helpful, I have already check for loose wires/connections.  I think my next step should be to send in the MPU for testing and needed repairs.  Do you have any recommendations on where to sent it?  Thanks Mark...

I can think of two options for your repair. First is K-Lar in Las Vegas..

Second might be Spin. They say they fix all boards, but I don’t know of anyone that used them yet..

Your 1492 board has the wrong product jumpers. It has jumpers for a CEI board.
See attached.

Did he send you the 1492 Ceronix to be repaired?  Just curious how you knew it was for CEI?

Years of experience? No horz or vert problems just different colors assigned to "common" objects.
