Title: Convert cc-62-d to anything but a cc-62-d
Post by: mwade109 on August 24, 2021, 06:44:53 PM
Anyone know a way to convert the cc-62-d comparitor in a Bally 5000+ to either a different comparitor or simply a coin mech with a trip wire microswitch? Apparently my coin mech is bad and there is none to be found anywhere. There is one on eBay but it is from the seller that I bought one from and sent back as it worked about as good as my current one, I have a feeling it is the same one. The game is just for home use here and not really worried about security in the coin mech.  The game works great adding credits with the button inside the door and I would wire that to the play one credit button but that only works when the door is open, then got to have the door closed in order for it to pay to the credits.  Any ideas?

The coin mech is bad or is it the coin-in optics that is bad?
Try adjusting the sensitivity potentiometer dial on the coin comparitor....pretty easy...turn fully counter clockwise then turn clockwise a quarter of a turn.
Or try a simple thing like changing the sample coin...might help?

Maybe remove the two screws that hold the rake on the back of the CC....coins will go straight thru to the coin-in optics.
Do you know if you have the right coin-in optics decoder guide?
Test your coin-in optics.
Pull off the Q2 chip from the coin-in optics board if you want too...will take anything then...even pennies...haha

Open the cover of the CC and let us take a peek inside...betcha we can tell ya if it's any good or not just by looking at it.
But don't just give up and start trying to wire a Service Coin switch...your machine isn't really "real" after that....it'll play but to do that, all you need to do is re-wire the door cherry switch so that the wires are on the NO (Normally Open) tabs and play the machine like a slot tech testing stuff.

If you really know and are certain your CC is no good, why not place a WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the classifieds section of NLG?
Pretty sure someone here will have a known-good CC for ya?

I can fix those, there is no coin optic board, the brain box is usually bad.
There is a way to eliminate the entire CC62 but it involves a 9V battery and some connections to a switch.
