help!! IGT S+ coin and bill validator not working

Hi wondering if anyone can lend assistance. The machine is a double diamond IGT  S+


I have two issues.


1. Quarters are going right through the acceptance chute. I have tried new coin comparators ( now I have 4 ) and no result.


2. Bill validator. Was working but was temperamental. I would have to take out and put back the bill holder to get it to work. Now I got nothing. No sound when putting back the hopper and the light on the place where you put the bill is is out.

Probably need more background information.

Let me try here - coin comparator not working, actually 4 of them not working. Probably not a problem with all 4 comparators. Wire or power problem most likely, could be a door optic/sensor problem. Maybe just the sample coin not installed, probably not as machine was working with temperamental BV.

Temperamental BV - probably a bad BV power supply or wiring problem. I will assume the ' No sound when putting back the hopper ' is actually the BV not the hopper. Probably the BV power supply gave up the ghost and is bad.

No sound when putting back the hopper - if that is a correct statement then need more explanation.

Maybe some background information on why the coin comparator needed to be looked at and/or replaced would be helpful.

Many thanks for your reply. Let’s start with the coin comparator. It started acting funny and the advice I was give was to clean the optic. I did so passing through a cotton little towelette. It made things worse but it was suggested to replace the comparator for some reason. I first purchased a comparitar with the wrong voltage not knowing anything and then replaced the next three with the exact same model. It should be noted that none of them power on  the green light on the face of the comparator.


Now for the bill validator. By hopper I don’t mean the coin hopper but the bill hopper where all the bills accepted are stored. I used to be able to get it to work by taking the hopper in and out. It became more temperamental and finally resulted in just not working.


I’m afraid of the wiring and not having expertise although I’m proficient in basic wiring. Could it be in the programming somehow? I’m dying for you to say it is.


Lastly, if this is beyond my ability do you know anyone in CT that can fix this?

Got machine working. Looks like the CC harness had some bad connections to the CC, repaired those and got the CC and optics working. Got the BV working repairing the PS, replaced the caps. Machine up and running.
