Title: Another open door problem
Post by: Brokenwizard on July 14, 2015, 03:33:41 PM
I'm having a wonderful time fighting this problem. The optics were bypassed when I bought the machine but I've doubled checked the wiring just to be sure. I have two CPU boards and they both get this error. One has the green battery removed the other doesn't. With a mag glass I see some corrosion and copper showing through on one board so I'm wondering if that can cause this error. Question 2 If it can, is there a place I can get the board repaired or should I just scrap it and/or use it for chip parts?

As Always thanks in advance help

The door traces are located under the green battery, so it is possible the corrosion is causing the issue. I am not aware of anyone that does board repairs for others, but many of us have done it ourselves, for our own machines. If you can solder, you can give it a shot. Try searching the Archive site for more info on it.

Same problem on two boards? One with damage the other without? I would bypass the belly door switch if it's still there and check for possible wire damage on the harness.

I've checked for harness damage and did not see any. I will check the belly door switch but I think it's been bypassed too.
I'm not sure if the other board has damage as the battery is still on it and I can't see under it. I'm thinking I should remove too.

How do you clear errors on an s2000 with the door optics always showing closed? Also K-Lar in Las Vegas works on boards. 702-363-9998.
I understand with a door open candle or door open m notification fixing that will work. But how would you clear possibly stacked errors?

When you bypass the door optics, you run the circuit thru the door cherry switch. That way the circuit still opens and closes with the door.

Thank You, I didn't know how that worked. I don't have to mess with S2000s too much and that makes perfect sense. I was thinking an inline switch. My S2k has a cherry switch as does one of the S+ machines. But on the Plus machines they aren't hooked up. Good to know how that works.  :applause:

The cherry switches are designed for a cabinet light and a telltale to the casino monitoring equipment so they new the door was open if the machine was turned off. The cherry switch on the back of the cashbox housing was for the same purpose. Raised an alarm if someone tried to remove the cashbox with the machine turned off

I knew about the light and casino monitoring, but never thought about it becoming the inline switch. Thanks.  :cool_thumb_up:

Saga continues.
Belly door sw has been bypassed so I ordered another mpu board guarantied to be working or money back.
So I'll post the out come when I get it installed

Ok new board in similar door open problem. Found one cable unplugged. re-plugged also shorted the belly switch and the cash box switch  error changed from door open MB to door open M
Question. What is the correct connection for the door cherry switch? I've tried so many combination that it's probably screwed up

I'm gonna take a break or trash this machine. Still get door open m error and now the key chip only lights the top led. So far I've replace the power supply, the MPU board (three time) the Stepper chip, the game chips, the version chip and I've bypassed the belly switch and the cash can switch. I've check the door bypass wiring but I'll check it again real close. Then if it doesn't work I'm going to call the guy I bought it from and see if he'll take it in trade on a different machine. If Not it's a parts machine!!

Thanks to all who have tried to help and I apologize for my whining but I'm really frustrated.

Connect one lead to COM2 and the other to NO2. or use COM1 and NO1.

Thanks that's what I thought. Door closed switch closed. Going to start trying to trace the wiring today. Another day a better mood (>)

Boy an I dumb after doing everything listed before and tracing the bypass and checking the cherry switch was wired correctly. I found the door wasn't operating the switch all the way. Why didn't it work when I had the switch in manual mode? Most likely I had mess up the connection by that time. Anyway I really appreciate all the help I received and next time I'll check the obvious before I jump into a problem
Thanks again.

Reason I didn't find switch problem is because it's intermittent. Sometimes when switched it worked and others it didn't . Ordered new switch!!!

You likely have an unused cherry switch mounted to the back wall of the BV housing, just sayin'
