Title: IGT Munsters 3wheel made in 2001
Post by: dfsmith on April 02, 2020, 07:05:48 AM
Im looking for some direction on this machine it does not turn on. After it's turned on it has a slight click and lights flash it does this every 10sec's or so. Power supply has voltage.

Is it a S+ or S2000 ?

Does it have external speakers by the player tracking bar ? If yes that is a S2000

If you open the door with the power on are the reels stiff or are they loose and spin freely.

What do your coin in / winner paid meters say are they lit up at all ?

What denomination is it ? what happens when you drop in a coin ?

Built 2001 it is probably an S2000.  Your symptom looks like a short somewhere.  Probably an I/O card I would presume.  There are probably 2 of them in your cabinet.  Pull both of them out of their connectors, just pull on the handle until they are loose.  Then power up your machine to see if it stays powered on without the lights flashing and the clicking.  If it stays on, then one of the cards is causing the issue.  Plug one in, power up and see if the problem comes back, you need to isolate which card is the issue and then replace the card if if that is the issue.

ALWAYS plug and unplug things with the power off, never do it while the machine has power!

Jay,
It has a speaker attached to coin tray
.
I'll have to check the reels
Did not look at the paid meters where are they? Are they the ones on the lower right side of  cabinet?
Its a 25 cent machine and I haven't tried dropping a qtr in yet.

Sounds like S+
So no external speakers right below the top glass then ?
A picture of your inside would help.

The coin in / winner paid are the LED on the outside of the door.
Sometimes these will display messages like 12,65,65-1, 3100 etc which are error codes.

Speakers on an S+ are in the belly facing downward, not on the speaker tray.

Definitely a S2000. Never a Munsters S+. Could be a ballast also I think.

I have an S+ Munster, but I asked the question for the same reason as Munster is not a native game to an S+ also a date of 2001 makes it highly unlikely that its an S+ - One of mine was made in 1986. That's a 34 year old machine, why is it that a old Ford Mustang goes for more than a house and my S+ is not worth its weight in scrap metal  :Scratch-Head:

Just to be clear - there are certain games that have pay tables that are compatible with S+ games. You need to offset the reel strips to make it all line up and of course you don't get the cool music that come with the S2000 but at least you can enjoy Fred Gwen. Pink Panther is another cool S2000 theme that can cross over to S+

Yeah, I had munsters on my S+ before I could find an S2000 for a reasonable price back in the day.  It is a Wild 5x Pay clone, like Jay said, you needed to offset the reel strips by a few spots.  I notched mine to fit.

Tabasco will work on s+(double lucky 7s) no offset

Can't get mag7 to work on a s2000 though.

Thats an S2000
You can see the speakers right below the top glass.

I don't own one myself so I will be of limited help going forward.
Did you try the suggestions earlier in the thread ?
The folks here will get you up and running.

I see someone has already moved this thread to the right category.

Can you be more specific on this?
Exactly what readings are you getting with the multimeter?

Just so you know, that is not the power supply you have open. For the power supply, you have to remove the reels and it is behind them. There is a screw thumb turn on left. Quite often, it is not secured. The power supply slides to the left to unplug and remove. Power supply may just be not making contact.

Guys I gt it all fixed new power supply and clear reset works great. But one more thing it'll only take two quarters. If I try to put more it'll just drop it out the coin return. Is there a setting to change this?

Sounds like you have 2 coin SB100043 eprom installed.  You need 3 coin SB chip SB100042.

So that 3coin eprom will let put it more than 2 and apply the balance as credits?

S+ &  S2000 take the number of coins relative to the theme. Excess coins go to the tray.
The S+ has a feature with some game chips that allow you to use a feature called Montana credits which will go to credits. I am not sure if that is available in the S2000.

Version chip VS009VX0 allows coin and credit..
Version chip # 1 does not open 7.1.10.2 coin in options. Version 0 does open it.
