Title: Early S+ pull handle solenoid not working, handle locked in position
Post by: Chris95 on June 13, 2021, 03:38:59 AM
So, been getting my early S+ DD back into working condition. I have all the board and optics problems fixed, now my pull handle isn't working. I did work prior, can't remember last time I tried so don't know if this is a new failure. Anyway, handle release solenoid isn't operating. What is the test procedure for the solenoid release, I did not see an output test for it. What voltage/ohm should I check? Thanks! BTW I did do a forum search prior and didn't see a specific test sequence for the handle.

do input test #16, this will send a ground to the solenoid to energize it, allow you to pull the handle and check the operation of the handle switch.

you should have 24 volts at the solenoid, check to see if the pin or pins were pushed through the connector when the connector was plugged together, this happens sometimes.

Thanks. So I tested input test 16_0. When I press play one credit, I get a positive signal of 16_1 but nothing at the solenoid. There are two wires, orange/green and orange blue. No voltage there at any time, even when pressing "spin". I checked the harness connector from the motherboard, no bent pins etc. I also check the harness connector, no voltage on either side (thought the connector might be corroded). This should be 24 volts ac, correct? Should this be continuous voltage or only voltage when spin is activated? I have no voltage at either time right now.

So had my MPU and motherboard refurbished by KLAR week before last, tested all I could for the handle solenoid. Had a spare motherboard in storage, swapped the motherboard out with the one I just had refurbished, power back to handle solenoid. I hope I can send my motherboard back to KLAR and hope for warranty.
