Title: S-2000 constant coin-in jam
Post by: Badbaud on August 19, 2020, 12:32:21 PM
Need a clue or two. The game does have a hopper and coin in assembly. I am getting a constant "coin in tilt" message.
The coin mech cable was jumpered out to see if the coin assembly was the problem, the backplane board was replaced with a known good one, the MPU board was replaced with a known good one.
The game was cleared with a 97 chip countless times to try to fix the problem.
Weird thing is when the game first came to the shop we fixed the game with a replacement MPU for a shop in Cali., the game played and paid with no errors.
The shop took the game to Cali. and it was played in their shop and it worked fine.
Their customer received the game and took it home, the next day the coin-in tilt appeared and won't clear.
Back to our shop and the error persists.

There are a lot of things that can do this. Try reseating the I/O board in the door (power off). Also make sure the cash can is fully seated.

Hmmmm, the cash can. It does have some kind of weird optic setup to detect it is in place but I have never received an error message relating to it's placement.
I'll fart with that circuit tomorrow.

Did the California shop install the new MPU? Wondering if it has the dreaded Varta battery on it?

Replace the I/O card and maybe the door harness.

No we installed the MPU when it was here the second time, that was not the problem.
The door I/O card was the problem. I finally found one that worked out of my box of pullouts.
